it offers one of the best teachings for all walks of life.
the issue now is mis-interpretation of the teachings for personal gains is a sad state of affairs.

Islam is a monotheistic religion that developed sometime after the death/resurrection of Christ. It's founder is the prophet Mohammed who traveled around the middle east speaking "Allah's" word that he supposedly heard through the angel Gabriel on a mountain top. It's Holy Book is the Quran and it's pretty much the parallel religion to Judaism and Christianity considering they all have one common ancester: Abraham. Some Muslims are peaceful while others wage war with "infidels". I hate terrorists but I have Muslim friends. So it depends on the person and not the religion what I think of them. And that is what I (a Christian) know.

Hisham: I don't feel any contempt whatsoever, about the Muslim faith. I have a Muslim friend from Iran (Shiite), who tells me about Mohammed and the Muslim faith and I tell him about Jesus Christ, as I am a christian. I hate "religion" too, by the way!
Religion is a mixture of Dos and Don'ts called legalism and is paramount within all religions in this world, today. Religion always tells people WHAT they are to do but can never tell them WHO they ARE. Religion always has a man telling people how to live by rules. BUT I do like SPIRITUALITY because it defines WHO you ARE !!! There is a big difference in the two. Religion is a relationship with rules and regulations whereas, Spirituality is a relationship with God [Jesus] . Religion's message is "I am a mistake", opposed to Spirituality who's message is "I made a mistake"! Spirituality is paramount to GRACE, which in turn, transforms the person from the inside out, into a relationship of love with both, God and man. ( You do all your answering to God - not any man !)

I know that Abraham wanted a son and had one with one of his slaves because his wife was to old then G-d told him to send his (bastard) son away as G-d was making it possible for his wife to have one.The (bastard) son would play a primary role in developing islam.
Mohammed was not a peace maker but rather a thief.
I have in my library english translated koran it tells me what I need to know, and their actions since 9/11 show me what they are without any questions regarding religions.

I know that supposedly, the Primary Deity of Islam chose a man named Muhammed to represent him before the people of the world, and that to become a Muslim one must submit themselves to the will of this god.

Well, I don't know a lot, but I know a bit, because of personal circumstances.

I know about the roots of Islam, including the Prophet, and how the Qur'an was revealed to him, the hegira, etc.

I know the Pillars of Islam, and if I weren't so tired, I could tell them to you in Anglicized Arabic, but I am tired, so I will just say:

--There is no God but Allah
--Prayer
--Pilgrimage to Mecca
--Fasting during Ramadan
--Charity for the poor

I know a good deal of what it says in the Qur'an about various things, as I have read it, but I am not as familiar with everything in it is as I am with the Bible.

I know (and this one is important, at least to me, as I have to explain it to people all the time) about Greater Jihad, which involves the struggle to free yourself from wordly things and master that which keeps you from God, and about Lesser Jihad, which involves actual war to defend Islam.

I know that during Ramadan, you break the fast with dates.

I know that women cover themselves and are modest not because women are bad, but because men can be weak, and easily tempted.

I know that Jesus is not seen as the Son of God, but is still seen as a great prophet and teacher.

I know the beauty of hearing the Muezzin calling the faithful to prayer on a warm summer evening, and hearing a whole city grow slightly more quiet as the faithful stop to pray.

I know that people go to mosque on Fridays.

I know that men hold their feet in a slightly different position during prayer than women.

I know a bunch of other stuff, as well, but I will sum it up with one final thing, which also tells you what I feel about Islam. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all spring from Abraham the patriarch. That means that Jews, Christians and Muslims are all brothers and sisters before God. To me, that also means that all those faiths are equally valid, and that none of them should say bad things about the other, or fight with the other, for it is as futile and as displeasing to God as it is to any Father when his children fight. I know that my God and your God are the same, we just call him by a different name, but He is the same, nonetheless.

The body was created by GOD! Every body in existence! The human body belongs to GOD and no human has the right to destroy it!

Those souls sent into Muslims families are as valid as those sent into Hebrew or Christan families. The soul does not get to chose, too our beliefs are those of where we are born!

There is only one Judge, man is not that judge, so no man should
assume that he is equal to GOD and can proclaim judgment, even more so, to kill one of GODS creations.

No human walks unless GOD breathed the breath of life into him.

GOD has called us to love HIM and each other. His wrath is upon those who fail to do so.

All of humans wars are because we fail to love GOD and follow his word, as well as we fail to love one another as He has called us to do.

GOD gave us free choice. The world is what it is because we chose it to be so. We chose to slaughter maim, rob, rape, cheat, lie, steal, beat and hate! We chose war, not love, we chose to judge, but we are not the judge, only GOD is.

Islam is a great religion. It made new rules and everyone who follows the Qur'an knows that they should not oppose other religions. Most Muslims are God fearing people who only want peace and they follow the scriptures of Abraham's message.

It is outdated and not relevant in the western world, the way women are treated or are expected to behave is archaic, the rag-bag way they dress is only suitable for certain countries in the middle east and that is where all Muslims should be sent to.
