The book of genesis says that Adam?

We all know that it is the females that give birth and bring new life into the world. Why is it then that in the book of genesis we are taught that it was Adam that gave Eve life?

You can derive a female from a male, but not a male from a female. God created Eve, from Adams genetic material, minus the Y Chromosome. At a genetic level, they were brother and sister, though you could say that Eve is a modified clone of Adam. Their children, being there was no other contributors like now, from grandparents, likely also looked almost exactly alike each other, and their parents. It would have taken generations for variations for creep into the genetic code to begin seeing real difference.

GOD gave Eve life, Adam had nothing to do with it; a rib was taken from him, it wasn't surgically donated. The creation story in Genesis is considered less than a scientific explanation for the beginnings of human life on earth by MOST educated and thinking Christians.
It is said we have more information thrust upon us in one day that a man in 1300 had to absorb in this whole life, and that man was far more enlightened than a man of 5000 years ago. I think the creation story was valuable to people before we were able to "a bit more thoroughly" understand science, and we definitely have a very long way to go before we in any way come up to our potential.
Fundamentalists (selective literalists is what they actually are), are not very high up on the evolutionary scale of Christians. That's why they have their own colleges (Jerry Falwell owns one, and most of the town as well), but they aren't turning out the scientists of the future. Don't believe everything a so-called Christian says, even me! Check it out..

Judaism turned from a Matriarchal society into a Patriarchal society when the Bible was put to writing and all thing were changed to male oriented names as coming first.
So their fore God was male and made ADAM first until he grew lonely and asked God for a companion. He first made Lilith the same way as He made ADAM from the dust of the Earth . but she didn't want to do things at ADAMS bidding and always questioned why she should even to God.
Adam asked God for a more doc tile companion . And Lilith was removed from the Garden and met and mated with other tribes found out side of the Garden.
Then God made ADAM sleep and took a rib from him and made EVE from it. And she was more like what ADAM wanted .
The story would have been as you described if the Matriarchal system had been keep. It is that way in the Pagan religion.

Because Adam was God's own creation out of the dust of the Earth. Adam was then put to sleep, the feminine DNA (or rib) was taken out of him to create Eve. That is the only time two humans were created without the use of sexual reproduction. (unless cloning starts happening...ugh) With God all things are Possible

Contrary to popular belief, it is the man who gives life, not the woman. It is the man who carries the seed of new life, while the woman carries eggs that provide what the sperm needs to live and grow. A woman's body nurtures the new fetus, protects it and brings it into the world - but it is the man who places this new life inside the woman.

The belief that life comes from women is pagan and not of God.

And so, Adam was the donor of genetic material and it was God who created and gave Eve life. Adam was given the honor of naming Eve.

"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,

17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'
"Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat of it
all the days of your life.

18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,

wellllllllllllll it kinda goes like this......

due to the laws of nature it is impossible for a creation of a different specie or chromosome to form without altercation from the first principle. therefore Adam being an X and Y, when God took his rib and gave Eve life it's like God had to use and take away one of Adams chromosomes to form the new creation since it is impossible for this to happen on its own. So God took part of adam and made Eve thats why girls are Double X and guys are X and Y. is that anywhere close to understandable.

Because it was written thousands of years ago for people who did`nt know thier *** from a hole in the ground. I`m way beyond this question. Why did a third of the angels join satan and revolt against heaven? How could that be? Why did god cast satan to earth? Endless space, and he chooses here!
