It's in your head. I don't know what Phung Shue is, but the trouble getting comfy is in your head. As for the room feeling smaller, if you put a big mirror up somewhere, the room will feel bigger because of the effect a mirror has. And if you put an area rug down, it make it feel like you're entering a different section of the room when your on the rug than when your off it. Those things don't actually change the size of the room, they just make you think the room is bigger. So, if you rotated your bed to where there is more open space in the room, it will make your bed feel bigger. Of course that part is just an illusion and in your head, the bed didn't change sizes.
(I've never thought about the facing north/south/east/west thing and how that might effect the gravitational pull on your body, but that is an interesting thought)
{{Sorry if that didn't get what you were looking for either, but it's the best I got for now.}}

wth is phung shue?
u probably move ur bed from middle of the room to the edge or move it from higher ceiling to lower ceiling. Something about the distance of the wall affect our spatial judgement. I have the same feeling that the bed had shrunk too when i did that, but i got over it in a few days. Just move it back the way it is.

It's not in your head and it's not just your bed.
Feng shui has good points (your surroundings effect how you feel) and some bad points (have to sleep with head toward North).
Maybe you're too close, or too far away from the window.
Maybe you put away your favorite stuffed animal.
Maybe you've changed other facets of your life at the same time which effect your sleep pattern or metabolism.
Go back to what worked and change one thing at a time or just change the room again.

No, I would say it's NOT in your head at all. Feng Shui is something I do put some faith in, I think the chi of a room can be important. Personally, when I rearrange my room I try not to put it directly under a window because it makes me sleep like crap- maybe this is just anxiety because I'm worried someone will break in my window and I'll be right there underneath, or maybe it's something else. At any rate, there are definitely room arrangements that work for me and arrangements I try to avoid.

I can only sleep well with my bed running east and west, rather than north and south. Supposedly this has something to do with the ions. I don't know if that is true, but I do know how I feel. I can eventually get used to the bed running the other way; I had to do it for almost 3 years due to the size of the room.
You are not alone.

Yes, I'm very particular about the orientation of my bed. I also have to have a window cracked so I can breathe fresh air, even if it is cold and I have to sleep under a down comforter. I sleep like a baby with fresh air, and toss and turn if there is no outdoor air coming in. Turn your bed back the way it was or try another spot.

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of geomancy. Its practitioners believe that the way you place your house, its windows, its doors and interior decor can affect the energy of the place.
Your friend might be right.
You might have to seek help from a Feng Shui expert to redecorate. They are expensive, but believers think they are worth it.
I myself sleep very soundly and haven't had this experience, but I know that many people have.
Otherwise Feng Shui practitioners would not exist.

Well.. your actual bed did not get any smaller so that part would be in your head - but the way the bed is now must be making it seem smaller than the way it was before - maybe you feel more crowded where it is now - maybe it is closer to other furniture than it was before.. all of those could effect how you feel and you thinking that it is smaller.. and having trouble sleeping. If you were facing a window before and are not now - that would really make you feel like this. I go to bed some nights and my bed feels like a different bed. I live with my bf and sometimes we are like on top of each other and swear the bed is smaller.. haha but it obvioulsy isn't - it is just us.. so yea it is kind of in your head - but for a reason. :) Anyway - here are some tips I figured I could add that may help you to have your room feel more open and help you sleep better..
The link at the bottom of this has some tips on how to feng shui your bedroom. When you move things around a room which I used to do ALL of the time, it does change your space - so if you had the bed against a wall for example and now it is into the open space and not against the wall, you are losing space and in some ways when you move it - the bed could feel smaller.. but the bed is not as you know :o) so the place you moved it to just is not the right place.
I would try to face it towards a window so when you are in it - you feel an open space it front of you and see some light. It may help to buy a nice new bedding set with some throw pillows in some light cheery colors - possibly a floral pattern to add some new colors to your room.. change it up. It is important to keep your bedroom clear of any clutter and a peacefult place and I don't know how old you are but in general, it is best to only sleep in your room and have sex in your bed.. if you end up always watching tv in there or are in there all day, the room will become less associated with rest and sleep which can make it harder to sleep.
I would recommend moving the bed again and buying some nice new things to decorate with - maybe some of your furniture can be rearranged to maximize the space in your room or you can move some decorations around to make it feel more open. If you have heavy curtains up now, you may want to add some bamboo blinds with a sheer curtain over them so some light is always coming in. And- the right lighting is important in a room - in all the right places. I prefer to add two or three small lamps to a room instead of one large bright one. I also hook up a dimmer to the plug of the lamps so you can dim the lighting to change the atmosphere and mood.
In general, it sounds like you are not happy with something in your room which is why you may keep changing it around. Why not paint your room a new color - lavender is good for relaxation.. I would also get some lavender scented candles and potpurri and place them by your bed so the scent helps you fall asleep. I use a lavender pillow spray which makes me fall asleep immediately.
As far as the actual bed goes, how long have you had it - if you have had it for several years, it may be time for a new one or you can get a pillow top matress cover or memory foam cover for the top of it for a new feel - I think you need some change in there - new colors, new bedding materials.. redecorate.. If the walls are too cluttered, take some things down and only put up a few key pieces that are calming. If you do watch tv in there, try to get a comfy chair to watch it from instead of in bed.. these are all things that may help improve your feng shui, help you relax and make the best possible creation in your space - your room should be a relaxing getaway spot. Some people like those mosquito like nets that you hang on the ceiling that drape down around the bed but that may make you feel too closed in..
The lighter the walls, the bigger and more open the room will feel - don't go too heavy on the windows - you want some light to come in - you may have light walls now but you want to change something - make it new to you, bring your space back to life - refreshing - I bet this would make you feel better. Maybe you can add some bed lifts (raises) under your bed to raise it up which can also make it feel larger and help create space. Try to store some things in rubbermaid containers or baskets under the bed to save space and organize. Baskets around the room also look great, feminine, organized and help clear clutter like hair products, perfumes, makeups, etc..
Have fun though.. maybe put your bed back to where it was and instead change the look around you instead of moving the bed around.. that might help. Make your room your perfect place. Get some new pillows maybe and make sure your bed is not too cluttered with pillows.I just bought an alternative down comforter from overstock.com and it is like having a new bedroom - it is so comfortable.. I love it. I also really like Simply Shabby Chic bedding from Target - it is classic and comes in many different colors and patterns.. it is really pretty, feminine, relaxing and so comfortable at the same time..
Time to do some redecorating.. check out some home magazines or online for some bedroom decor tips. Pottery Barn and Pier One make the best home decor items and even IKEA has some things you can add that are cute and cheap to liven up the room.. Target also sells some nice things that you may like.
Have fun - take a weekend and redo your space..
:o)

Yes, I think its, "just in your head". for no other reason other than you are just not happy and comfortable with the new arrangement. Try another one, change your wall color and add some neat things around and than see how you feel. Don't worry, its normal!!! If your worried about your mental health, check with a Doctor. Good luck
