my brother sent me an email that is in chinese (I think). It just looks like a bunch of mumbo jumbo; it does not look like chinese symbols. does anyone know of a way to convert it into chinese symbols so I can put it into a translator??

I know that it is from my brother and I know it isn't a virus. thanks for the concern though.
I also have a free translator, but my problem is getting it into a translatable form.

Go up to View-> Encoding->More, and select the appropriate language, in this case being one of the choices under Simplified or Traditional Chinese.

I think you may need to install the Chinese fonts on your computer before you can read it. What i normally do is to install the east asia languages in the control panel under regional and languages option.

Its likely a virus anyway. I say delete it. Without knowing the orgin, there's really no way to know how to convert to english.

Are you sure that email is from your brother? It could be a virus treat. It will better if you ask him if he sent you that email.
But you can use this translator
