Your question implies that you consider religion to be the ONLY source of spirituality. Otherwise, you'd understand that spirituality is ALSO atheists' business. So, let me say I'm sorry if you're keeping yourself from receiving other sources of spiritual nourishment.

Not to mention that religions are all over the world. Serious decisions are taken every day that affect us all (religious or otherwise) so everybody has a right to say something about it. As an unbeliever, I don't normally participate in questions asking about religious liturgy. But I do have a few things to say, when it comes to the involvement of religions in politics, and the religious policies about us unbelievers.

On a positive note: they are here because a person can be spiritual without being religious per se.

On another note: some are here to try to antagonize and get reactions out of people.

On yet another note: some might just be pathetic. I hope not for I believe God put everyone on this earth for a reason.

Let them stay here, some former atheists become believers like Lee Strobel, check out this web site:

Why do people ask this when they could've taken 4 extra seconds of their time to find out that it's ALREADY been asked about 500 times previously??

Atheists spend time here to correct logical errors and dispell myths. Atheists spend time here because a largly popular and comforting lie is still a lie. Atheists spend time here because religion effects everyone every day even if not everyone adheres to any religion or spirituality. Atheists spend time here because it's a kindness, a good deed really, to free people from self-imposed delusions and long time brainwashing.

The majority of so-called atheists here are not so much atheist as they are radically anti-clerical.

Anti-clericalism defines the Age of Reason. It's the revolt of free-thinkers against compulsary belief. All of the American founding fathers were pretty much anti-clerical.

Deists such as Jefferson were not ready to dismiss the Creator principle, but they utterly rejected the notion that some self-appointed ayatollah could impose compulsary thought.

In this early 21st century era, the usual notions of God or Creator-principle are even more difficult to square with what physics tells us.

Being hostile towards organized religion, and especially the fundamentalists, is not necessarily atheistic. It's old fashioned anti-clericalism.

I didn't realize you had to be religious to be spiritual. I'm so sorry-I guess I should've checked the guidelines for what area agnostic or atheist people are allowed into.

And I celebrate Christmas for my family (to the person who commented on this)-I just don't believe what really happened on Christmas to be true. Did you know that people who are agnostic don't personally believe in god, but they aren't disputing the fact that you do and there could be one. They personally just do not believe.

Because atheism is the way to the truth. Perhaps you ought to dump the religious dogma that's been numbing your brain and recognize that there are not just a lot of atheist in here, but that there are quite a plentyful-few knocking on the door as well - and by the way, we're all doing just fine without the help of any deities.
