Has anyone had any experience with multiple cat ownership where after traveling by car for three days that one cat would get hostile with the others? One of my cats has and I wonder how long it will take for him to get over this. It's as if he sometimes doesn't even recognize his own sister cat.

All three kitties are fixed.... One male and two females. One female picks on him and he picks on the other female, almost as if he doesn't recognize her.

It could just be stress if the cat has been traveling for three days. Most cats get very upset when they're removed from their territory, but if it'sbeen a month, other issues may be at hand.

Were the cats moved permentantly or was this just some temporary thing and the cats are now back in their old environment?
Cats form a hierchy when they live together and at times one of the cats will challange this. This can happen when there's new territory to be had. Cats can also start fighting when one or both of them isn't fixed and becomes sexually mature or are in the presence of a potential mate.

So the cat that became hostile is male? Are both of the other cat's female or is there another male cat involved in this mix?

Need more information too frame a more qualified responce.

Just based on the little information that you've presented I would say in the quick and durty... cat's are by thier very nature wierd. That's why we love them. Cats also are world famous for being very squirly with other cats.

This new behavior might just be something you are going too have too learn too live with.
