I was on zoloft for about 10 years at 200 mg per day. It was necessary to wean. You can have unpleasant side effects while weaning. I worry that your Dr. has told you different. It isn't sound advice. Listen to your body. If you are feeling bad, then level off your dose until you feel better. When you feel better you can start weaning again. I will say that while I was weaning off Zoloft I was also starting Wellbutrin which helped me to not have side effects. Zoloft is a Class C drug which means it hasn't been adequately studied in pregnancy. I can tell you that I work at a hospital with high risk pregnancies and after about week 20, our dr.'s give many drugs they wouldn't give in early pregnancy when the baby is still forming. At any rate, continue what you are doing. It sounds reasonable to me.

When I stopped I had no side effects, but I had a low dose anyways. Also, there is some evidence that the drug peaks its effects 3 days after you start taking it, and slowly decreases its effect over time. What is going on with you I am not sure, maybe you are pregnant now! Maybe the stress of becoming pregnant has worn you down. Could be lots of things....not just the drug.

I took it for a while and I weened off in a few weeks. just take half the dose for a week, then stop. I did, and didn't really have side affects. They lasted maybe a few days. It shouldnt cause you anything serious to just stop cold turkey

I stopped immediately and noticed nothing along the way of side effects. It could be your mind playing tricks on you, or it could be unrelated. Either way, whether you have some side effects or not, it is SAFE to come off it all at once, or by tapering off. If you are weening off to avoid side effects, and are having them anyway, it might be better just to stop all at once. Then you can have about 24 hours of side effects and be done with it.

Any drug like that---you need to have the doctor prescribe the doses for "weening off". If you ween off on your on this is synonymous with self medicating.
Please ignore my answer if your weening off dosage is doctor prescribed.

Yes, most if not all anti-depressents and other medications cause a drug withdrawl when you take yourself off of them, I can totally feel where your coming from.
Coming off Zoloft isnt fun, but trust me Paxil and Effexor are 5x worse, you just have to work through it, it sometimes can take up to a week for the nausua and headache's and that weird feeling in your head and body that neither you or I can explain, basicly it sucks, but just give it time.
Good Luck.
