I have a boil that keeps popping up in the same place, even if i pop it and pour rubbing alcohol on it to clean it out. Why does it keep coming back? Does anyone know how to prevent it? Maybe a home remedy?

quit popping it for starters it can easily get infected got to the drug store and get some A&D ointment keep it cleaned with peroxide and then put the ointment on it if it's an area that the salve will come off easily from clothes rubbing or something then cover it lightly with a sterile gauze and make sure it doesn't get red around it and start spreading if it does then it's infected and you'll have to go to the dr. my husband gets them from time to time on his inner thigh and this works really well with him Good Luck

try some neosporin or get some bactrim from your doctor. Rubbing alcohol is not the right thing to use. Try some hydrogen peroxide. Better yet if you can get it, put some merthiolate on it. You can get that cheap in Mexico. After you clean it good with the hydrogen per. make a little pad out of a napkin or cotton with some of any of the above on it and tape it over the sore at night . Try that for a few days. picking isn't the best thing to do beyond one quick squeeze, after which you should clean your fingers real good to keep from spreading the infection around.

A boil is an abscess. The skin is one of the disposal avenues for toxins. That is what your body is doing, casting out toxins. It has built little escape hatch. Allopathic doctors generally treat the symptom with prescriptions. You have impurities, called toxins, in your system. Garbage in; garbage out kind of situation. Start limiting the garbage and put in some nice salads, carrot juice, fruit, etc, -- stuff with live enzymes inside. Drink more water. Get regular bowel movements. Topically I would douse the area with hydrogen peroxide or something that kills infection. It is not enough to attack the condition on the skin surface. You must attack the reason for the skin condition. You need a clean rectum, liver, kidneys, blood, etc. You do that by correcting your diet. You don't have to be a health nut either. Once you get over the hump just keep everything in moderation. I love chocolate ice cream, but everything in moderation. Right now with the abscess, you will want to be stricter.

I used to have the same problem. I found that the best thing after I popped it was to put Aloe Vera on it. Straight off the plant - not the shop stuff. It's a very natural product that works wonders.
I'm not sure how old you are but mine kept coming back while I was going through puberty. I also had an infection when I was younger which wouldn't have helped.
I don't think you can prevent them. I think it's just a matter of eating correctly, waiting for your homones to settle and making sure you treat your skin - I used to have to wash in a acne cream and that helped reduce them.

Oddly enough, my friend used to get these and wouuld sosk them with hot water and also apply tomato paste - I know it is strange but I guess her mother had told her about it and she said it worked and was shocked- something about the acid..
You want may to see your doctor though - sometimes you may need some type of prescription topical ointment - could be some kind of minor infection too that may require antibiotics. Often, the ones that do not go away - Hidradenitis - can be a sign of staph infection (bacterial), viral infection or just a clogged pore.

this is an old home remedy I learnt from my grandma.
Mash sweet potato leaves until it becomes a paste. squeeze the excess juice out and apply the paste on the boil. cover the area generously and stick a huge waterproof plaster over the paste and boil. change the paste daily.

Well from what I understand boils are actually caused by a virus, which means you need an anti-viral medication that only a doctor can prescribe.

boils are a staff infection. you need to see a dr. and get a topical medication or an antibiotic. that is the only cure honestly. be careful b/c they can spread easily. wash your hands after touching it!

Try using hydrogen peroxide next time. If this doesn't work, see your dermatologist.
