Hello Fran,

Okay, firstly don't worry. These kind of symptoms are very common in young women your age. I myself as a girl used to suffer in much the same way. Make sure you are drinking at least three litres of water everyday especially as you are sporty. Eat more fruit with natural sugar, such as apples, water melon, grapes, plums etc. Drink pure juices for energy and boosting your sugar level. More importantly, you need to see your local GP or practise nurse. It is better to have a blood test just to make sure that there is no sign of diabetes. If you can ....have a chat with your mum, it's better if she knows you are worried because this is happening to you. Hope this helps Hun. :-)

It could simply be dehydration, especially since you are "very sporty." You can't depend on thirst to keep yourself properly hydrated. Drink plenty of water. When you get dizzy and shaky, take a break and drink at least 8 ounces of water, juice or quality sport drink. Could also be low blood sugar, close to mealtime... Pop is not a good drink, colas work as diuretics (aggravate dehydration) and they actually leach calcium out of your bones... leading to early osteoporosis. If it isn't dehydration, it could be something more serious that would require a doctor. Are you sleeping well, it could simply be tiredness from insomnia or less than 8 or 9 hours QUALITY sleep at night. For example, are you ultra thirsty and urinate a lot? That could mean diabetes. Uncontrolled you could wind up in a coma... or worse. It is probably NOT a brain tumor, stroke or other brain disorder, so don't panic... but those are possibilities.. Talk to your parents or guardian and see what they think.

It sounds like you might have hypoglycemia or low blood sugar. It is common in active girls your age. It is nothing to worry about unless you don't eat. Be sure to snack on something every couple of hours. Take along a light snack where ever you go. Don't skip meals. Don't eat a lot of candy, sugar, or drink a lot of soft drinks. You want to have natural forms of sugar, not refined sugar. Stay away from drinks that contain caffiene like coffee, cola or Mountain Dew. Fruit is a good choice.
When you feel dizzy and shaky, drink a little orange juice. Have your parents get you checked by your family doctor and speak to your school nurse. Hypoglycema can turn into diabetes later in your life if you neglect it now.

A couple things come to mind... some distress in the upper cervical spine (at the base of the skull) would show acute tenderness when pressing at the base of the skull... the other is a bit more serious.. hypoglycemia.. try eating a piece of candy when this occurs and see if that will remedy the situation. If that is the cause, you will need to eat more often and smaller amounts.

I agree, have a healthy diet. Sometimes this can be caused by low blood-pressure, its not dangerous, but when you go to the Doctors check it out. When you feel dizzy sit or lay down, drink something, preferably with a bit sugar in in

Some thyroid disorders can be cured, but many require lifetime treatment. Learn here https://tr.im/8VVUF
For example, sometimes early stage thyroid cancer can be cured by surgery to remove the thyroid gland, but you will need to take thyroid hormone medication afterwards for the rest of your life. Goiters can also be surgically removed and do not always recur after surgery. In most cases, thyroid disorders need treatment over a lifetime. However, with treatment most people with thyroid disorders can live normal, healthy lives.

Make sure you drink plenty of water and are well rested. Sometimes it's good to eat a different variety of fruits and vegetables. You are still young and because you are still growing, u need alot of protein and vitamins. Especially being a athlete.
