Do you think it is possible for a man in love to ask his girlfriend or wife for a threesome?

I am very open minded and not a prude, by any means - I can understand it with a friend or something but not with someone you love. (As warped as that may sound.)

I know the difference between love and sex but my key point here is if a man truly loves you, how could he want to be with someone else, even if you let him?

Or does a man who asks that not truly love the woman?

(I would never let my boyfriend do that, by the way but he says it this way - 'If you want me to do it, I will."
Yeah, right.
That is like giving permission to cheat, how does it make it better that I am present while it is happening?
I don't get it.
When I love someone, I don't want to be with anyone else and I wouldn't - even if they asked me.

What does that difference mean?

I'm right there with ya. It's still cheating cuz he is sleeping with another girl and I'm so against it. Some people like it, I don't. I believe if a man loves you, he should be with you only and vice versa. Not sure how he feels about you but if he just casually brings it up, then he's obviously thinking about sex with other woman and this could mean he doesnt love you enough. I may be wrong but that's how I see it. By the way, if you did this, could you live with the fact that he slept with someone else. I know I wouldn't be able to get the visual out of my head...

I think these are two different levels of relationship. If a person wishes to have a three way, I think the relationship is only in a stage of physical gratification. It can progress to monogamy but it may not.
Some people, men and women can play at sex this way, others really cannot. From your question, I would guess that it is not for you. Nothing wrong with that. But if you want to have a long term relationship with this bf you should make sure he is comfy with monogamy.

To each his or her own. Only you can answer this as it can be answered on morals, religion, basic society wishes, etc.

I myself thought I wanted a 3 some until the opportunity was presented to me with the one I loved at that time. Surprisingly my moral side stood up and said no.

I think that someone could be in love and still want to have sex with someone else, we are human beings after all. The question is, do you love someone enough to controll that desire?

Maybe it has been a long time fantasy for him to be in a 3 some and he loves you. Everybody has one ! try it once and if you don't like it tell him no more after this.

well i highly doubt he wants to see you with another guy... so basically he's asking permision to add females to your relationship. More than likely he's bored as hell with life and needs some excitment. I don't think it necessarly means he doesn't love you..
.. also maybe he thinks you have a secret fantasy for women and he wants you to be able to explore it for both your satisfaction.

You already have the question answeredd in your heart. But the way you answere his question is NO. and there will be no more of that talk or it's over. Respect yourself first. You cannot love him if you don't love yourself.
