anything really hard, or really chewy and sticky?

i had to wear braces and they told me i had to stay away from caramel, anything with nuts, gum. anything really that can bend the braces or get stuff stuck in them. thats kind of hard to avoid =) just be careful with what you eat and you should be okay

Anything that can break them. Broken brackets only delay the treatment. I am sure your orthodontist has a list of foods to avoid. Ask them for it.

Taffy, Tootsie Rolls and other chewy type stuff. Or maybe you want your braces to pop out and wrap around your nose hairs.

I'd say salt-water taffy would be a bad choice.
