Where can I get one or adopt one? How much would a pedigree cost?

Basenjis - famous for being barkless dogs - are FABULOUS creatures. But they are expensive. Expect to pay over $1,000 for a pedigreed Basenji.

Search "Basenji Breeder" on the web - here in Canada there are two certified breeders. They need a lot of exercise, being large dogs, and tend to be very loyal to one owner (if you are married this may be a problem.) They are not known for being good with children or other pets. Grooming is minimal but they can get skin rashes.

By the way, just because they're barkless does NOT mean they are silent - they have a large and loud vocabulary.

Good luck

One needs to be extremely committed to raise a Basenji..They are THE most challenging of all breeds to train..Even though they are small, they want to rule their own lives, and one must be very educated about the breed and how to train it to be able to enjoy living with one...Here is a good search>http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-18,GGGL:en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=basenji&spell=1
and you will find more information and breeders on those sites..

This breed is extremely aggressive, they are mean little dogs and will bite the hand that feeds them, think twice before you get one.
