Pain: I looked after a Cancer patient..til the end. She was 23 and asked that she not..be put into hospital to die..I agreed...she was family.

At first: morphine helps.. after a while it doesn't do much ..the cancer is vicious. Can't give more morphine than prescribed or that will kill the patient..So they suffer in the end.

Don't want to be morbid, so I won't go into anymore detail about that.

When she was "out of it" I would still talk to her..I know she could hear me.. She liked to paint, so I would tell her to paint a picture in her mind, then I would describe the scenery..Remind her of places we had seen, vacations taken..just kept talking.. she didn't answer nor show any signs of acknowledgement..

All I can say is I hope it helped her .. I have to believe it did.

In the end she went into a coma..and that was a gift.

Then she went quietly in her sleep.

Hope this helps you.. Unfortunately there is no way to make cancer sound better when it's terminal

If you have not experienced you will never understand. Its pain beyond belief and death is the better option. I can relate to it as I have had a very close association with cancer and pains for a long time.

I'm quite sure they'll be able to figure it out for themselves just fine. You are a sweetheart to offer you're assistance though... how do you feel about reading aloud to deaf children?
