When I was 12 years old I HAD A ROOT CANAL!!!!! seeing that you are preggies, you are most likely not over 40 years old. You have a lot of life left ahead of you- don't you want to still have a nice smile? Root canals DO NOT HURT AT ALL. The worst part is teh shot. They give you a shot of novacaine. Aftre that shot, you get, well, I got, about 3 or 4 more shots. But because of teh first shot, I could not feel them. Then the drill out your tooth, file the roots with little filer thingies, and fill it. Bam! You are done. My mouth was extremely numb for a few hours, lol, but I saved my tooth. I would definitely do it over again to save even a back tooth! Not painful at all. save your tooth- it is worth it.

That's just plain silly. Why endure the pain of a root canal, to say nothing of the cost, when your dentist is pulling the tooth. You have to know the root goes with the tooth when it's extracted.

No. Unless it is going to be a long time before it is extracted ( a 10 minute procedure). If someone has said otherwise, I would question their motives as root canals are waaaaaaay expensive.

No, but beware. My mom had her back bottom tooth pulled and the dentist fractured her jaw. Be sure to read your consent form very carefully before you decide to get it pulled!
