"Does he love me?" and then i read that he carried her books to class...

AHHH!!! It kills me a little.

I am not saying it is impossible, but throwing around the word love takes away a lot of it's meaning. I was 25 before I ever told a gf I loved her, and I thought I meant it at the time. But I care for my current gf even more than I ever imagined possible with the ex.

Love to me means butterflies when you see them, miss them at least a little when they're not around, and sacrificing your some of your own desire to benefit the relationship. Anyone older agree w/ any of this? Anyone in HS really think they're in love or is the word just, well, commonplace?

I agree...the word love is thrown around way too much now-a-days!!! I think love is a huge deal and that it is really sad that people are trying to make it mean so little!

I do think throughout highschool the word is thrown around and the meaning lost. I thought I loved someone at 16, me and her dated for a year and a half. There were some feelings. But I've realized it's nowhere near what it should be, thus not love. I was just very fond of her. I think until you are at least 23, you are too young to even begin understanding love, and shouldn't bother trying.

The words have become so commonplace any 14 year old with a crush will proclaim his/her 'love' for another.

I am IN LOVE, and I am 18. And I know this seems a little young, but I am. How you described it seemed quite apt, perfect. Most people that throw about the word don't know a single thing about love. And it saddens me to hear it said so lamely.

I agree. I thought the same about my ex (I was 26)...now I am 28 and it is better than ever with the present??? In HS...I never experienced anything like this! I like your def. of being in love, missing them when they are gone and doing everything with in reason to make them happy, it is so true!

I think it's commonplace. I believe knowing love takes experience that a very young person cannot possibly have.

They're kids, and they're stupid.

But it's okay.
