Yes it is very good for gaming. My only suggestion would be that you bump the processor up to at least the E6700, other than that it is fine. Don't listen to people who tell you to get SLI, you have enough video card there. Also ignore anyone who tells you Alienware sucks.

Workstations aren't for gaming, they have a different type of video card, and you don't need 20 gigs of memory on a gaming machine.

I've got a high-priced Alienware myself for gaming. Yes, that seems just perfect.

Alienwares are generally built for gaming! Very reliable and quick on your every task and command.

do no longer spend $7,000!!! you could build (or have a working laptop or computing gadget tech build it for you) a pc for in basic terms $2,000 that suits those overpriced desktops. they are no longer quite certainly worth the money. in the tip you % here issues. CPU: Intel Q9300 Yorkfield OEM Heatsink for CPU: Scythe Ninja Motherboard: Intel P38 Chipset. Or nvidia nforce 750i chipset RAM: a minimum of 2Gig (call variety is stable) Sound card: Sound Blaster X-Fi (do no longer use on-board sound) Video card: nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512MB Case: something by using Antec is stable power supply: Corsair variety is stable. 600Watts is acceptable for those aspects. you in all probability will spend around $a million,000 for that configuration. in case you print that out and supply it to a close by computing gadget shop they could supply you a diverse value. i did no longer incorporate an working device, it is extremely subjective. actual now Vista domicile top rate will in all probability be your ultimate purchase. the main serious subject is to tell them you % call variety aspects, no longer regularly used stuff. especially the call manufacturers indexed for each section.

There was a good pc for gaming and it was called the "Amiga."

Sorry you missed out.

Love the modern graphics though. We would have killed for that.

Game controller is way worse than in the old days.

However, from my understanding (I don't bother with this crap, I refer to my engineer sons), you should be able to make a respectable presentation of yourself with this hardware.

Have fun.
