The best white wine is Hogue Cellars Late Harvest White Reisling. By far. It is acclaimed by wine critics, and costs ~8/bottle, and is definitely the best you can get for the price.

Penfolds Merlot is quite nice, you should be able to get a nice bottle for around $13.
But to be honest I would ask your local bottle shop, they may have some reccommendations. They may even have an idea of whats best, whats local and what may be free of preservatives etc (less chance of hangover!)

Anything over $3 is wasting your money. The expensive stuff stinks. I likie Andre cold duck or the white stuff. I don't get headaches or hangovers, just stupid.
