Yes the TV is HD, although the main description is a little ambiguous because it focuses on the XD engine which makes standard picture look closer HD quality, if you check the Key Features or Specifications the TV has an HDMI input which is a good indication the TV is HD, or you can Check the model out on other sites which have it clearly labeled as HD.

YES! It has HD resolution, and has an ATSC tuner. It meets all requirements to be an HD television, not even merely "HD ready"
HDTV has two resolution standards:720p 1280x720, and 1080i or 1080p: 1920x1080. This set has 1366x768, which exceed 720p requirements. It is better than most plasmas which until recently were limited to 1024x768, yet even those were sold (and used) as HDTV sets. And they looked quite good, too.

50" Plasma Integrated HDTV <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
It is HD like mine, at 768 horozontal, and is a great price for a 50", but it is not the highest res HD which is 1080. this is a good tv for the price at this size, and most people can't tell the difference between a 768 pic displaying a 1080i sig and a 1080 Tv displaying one.

Yes, it says HD tv. But then it says, it will take the analog signals which a lot of channels still are and improve the quality of them to near HD.

Yes, it is. When it says
"LG’s XD Engine takes the low resolution of analog signals to near HD levels by improving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise"
This is just referring to the TV's ability to make analog signals (such as TV, or standard AV cables) look closer to HD.
