Yep, you sure can. It throws your electrolyte balance out of whack and can cause everthing from heart arythmia to collapse and possible death.
The reason I know this is because I have ulcerative colitis, and I have to work to keep a good potassium balance without going too far in either direction.

The recommended daily allowance of Potassium is 40-80 mmol (8-20g). It can be found in peanuts, orange juice, green beans, mushrooms, brocolli, sunflower seeds as well as bananas. Potassium is needed to help the body to maintain a regular fluid balance, and a healthy nerve and muscle function.
1medium banana contains 467mg of potassium (1mg = 1,000th of a gram).

It is possible to ingest too much potassium, but I don't think bananas are going to do you in. Probably would have to overdose on supplements.
Quote:
"Note that for a person with normal kidney function and nothing interfering with normal elimination (see above), hyperkalemia by potassium intoxication would be seen only with large infusions of KCl or massive doses of oral KCl supplements."

Yeah I think so. But it seems to be so hard to get even the R.D.A. on potassium.
On a trivial note: they used potassium injections to kill themselves in the movie "Flatliners".
