First, the legality of behavior does not determine morality. I would like to point out that the US held that men born free could be legally enslaved for exploitation. I would have hated to have those people around during the Civil Rights movement. That if it wasnt for people willing to "illegaly" traffic Jews out of Europe, then they would have been another statistic. And how they do not decry US illegal and immoral behavior in the Iran-Contra scandal, the Salvador Allende murder of a democratically elected ruler, the unequal "free trade pact" of NAFTA and more recently the iraq related war crimes.
Economic theory dictates that free markets promote the movement of goods, capital, and LABOR. To me the solution to illegal immigration is to make everyone and anyone able to work in the US legal; streamline the process (deferred fees and quick processing) and eliminate racially motivated immigration policy.
How about working to that end instead of bashing some poor peasant?

People cut in line to the bathroom when they're about to burst in their pants. I dont blame them, I would do the same.
And by answering "just because it's illegal", is not a real thoughout reply. Underage drinking is illegal. Drugs are illegal. A lot of behavior condoned by society is illegal. Why not target that illegal behavior. Or is it because that is not true red-white and blue and ILLEGAL immigrants serve as nice scapegoats.
Worried about them taking your jobs? Study hard! Competition breeds excellence. Or is it people are afraid of a little competition from our brown brothers down south?

You are trying to play a card that has been played truth be told , yes there are people out there they don't like Latino people because they are different. Not everyone is racist. Free trade is fine and well but the Immigration laws are not made to discriminate against Latin people because they are Latin , they discriminate against Latin people for the sheer numbers alone. It is because there are MORE people coming from Latin countries than other countries like china , or India, or Arabia. If the United States Government was being racist it wouldn't allow ANYONE in at all from anywhere.

The legality Issue is a defense for the cry of racism.People believe that everyone should come here in a legal fashion because everyone else had to. Its not about bashing some poor peasant . Which they aren't . But it's about looking out for the people that are already here and legal citizens. Which there are Hispanic people who are legal citizens. Unfortunately in order to do that we have to opt not to help Illegal immigrants. You have one or the other, you can't have it both ways.

Most other countries including Mexico have immigration laws. What you are saying is that the U.S. is NOT entitled to it's own.
Immigration laws are made beacuse a country has only SO many resources and it protects the rights of the people that were already living in the country. Fair or unfair it is the way it is. The United States has granted amnesty on many occassions. If the United States continues the economic policies it has, out sorcing, down sizing, dividing things up the great life you seek here will not be SO great.

Immigration is the least of the stupid things that will sink the GOP. The GOP's "you're either with us or an enemy!" stance on all issues pretty much makes them far too extreme for the majority of Americans - even if they aren't Democrats. This includes: * Taxes, specifically, don't tax the rich, but raise taxes on the poor/middle class. * The economy in general, like, don't make jobs, but give the rich more money * Gay marriage * Abortion * "Family Values" - This coming from a bunch of candidates who have had affairs, divorces, and sexual harassment lawsuits?!? Internationally, the GOP is both a laughing stock and a great source of concern since many Americans seem to be OK with this group's ideals, ethics, and proposed policies.

That's a pretty simplistic answer to a very complex problem.

Some of the concerns that complicate your theories:

Government subsidizing foreign industries which enable them to under price their goods - even in countries that have comparable wages to the United States. (ex. Canadian fishing industry)

Countries that still exploit their workers to produce cheap goods that US manufactures can't possible compete with on a price basis.
(ex. China and other third world countries)

If you are eluding to "open borders" - you are also advocating the regression of the United States into a third world economy.

You are correct that "legal" and "moral" are two entirely different things - but the past examples you site are not a true representation of the enormous strides this country has made to right these wrongs.

A fair and equitable policy must be worked out to deal with the ILLEGAL immigration problem. It doesn't seem fair or equitable to the millions of LEGAL immigrants to simply give blanket amnesty to those who, for one reason or another, felt it was their right to just wade across the Rio Grandee or slip into this country some other way - does it?

Carol R, You must have to be the least educated in this whole section, Seeing as you still believe that illegal immigration is not breaking any laws and it is OK, It doesn't come down to morality,
The god damn moral is you don't break laws.
I agree this is not immigration, This is trespassing.

& NO, we can't let Everyone and ANYONE, as you say work in the USA legally? What are you crazy, Would you let a registered sex offender work in a childrens day care?

Comming to this country without going the proper channels is aginst the law. Some people just do not realize just how simple and black and white this issue is. But people sneak into this country and for understandably a better life but they are starting off by disrespecting ( ooh I hate that word - sounds like a gang-banger ) this country's documented laws. Filling up our hospitals , schools and at least 25% of ILLIGALS are filling up our jails.

Julio, the route of the problem is, the wonderful resources of the US are not neverending, they are finite. Jobs, housing, land, food, water, gas, everything is limited. We have enough people, Im glad my ancestors got here by boat, but, seriously, we need to close the doors and put up the no vacancy sign. I want my kids to be able to get a job and own a house without being so horrendously over-competited for. This isn't just for Hispanic people, I'm talking Koreans, Indians, Australians, fricking Samoans, Canadians, I don't care. We that are here need to protect our resources. Is it a wonderful solution? No. Is it based on racial prejudice? Not my reasoning. I love all races. However, I am a nationalist. I want to protect what little, and the stockpile is getting smaller, we have.

Breaking the law is IMMORAL! What are you anyway? Communist, ultra left liberal or illegal yourself? There is nothing racial about it. Try to get into the emergency room here in America. They have been closing at an alarming rate. Why? Because illegals have raped them. More and more of our gang problems here are fueled by illegal children. They are taking jobs that you damn well better believe that Americans would do. And YOU damn well know it too. This is a country of laws. Take your rhetoric and shove it! We Americans especially from the boarder states are tired of hearing it!

Morality has NOTHING to do with the INVASION of ILLEGAL ALIENS.... The USA is a Nation of Laws.... Laws that illegal aliens are breaking....

You want to talk morality... then talk your sh!t to mexico.... 'thou shalt not steal'.... yet they steal... 'thou shalt not covet thy neighbors 'wife''... yet they covet all they can steal from the USA.... "thou shalt not trespass against thy neighbor" yadda yadda yadda.... what the hell is illegally entering the USA? I call it trespassing and STEALING....

FACE IT... ILLEGAL ALIENS are ALL CRIMINALS.... those who support their crime are TRAITORS.....

NO AMNESTY, NO GUEST WORKERS.... Americans need to be 100% employed before any guest worker crap programs are even considered.....

NAFTA is unfair trade... so is GATT.... Where is the morality in that?

NO, no illegal alien amnesty and NO streamlining for these criminals.... and that is exactly what they are: CRIMINALS....

I couldn' care less about Allendae, he was no good and a murderous bastard.... if I remember correctly, he was a filthy communist... might be wrong, but that is what I remember about him.

What you suggest would collapse the US economy.... just what the left and the Muslim terrorists want..... then who is going to be called upon to support the rest of the world? Communist RED china???? don't make me laugh....

These people you call poor peasants.... if they are illegal aliens, they are criminals.... we get no breaks regarding our laws in the USA, even if we are dirt poor.... don't expect us to give the illegal alien criminals any breaks... they already broke into our house and are stealing...

People use the legality issue to oppose immigration because the issue at hand is NOT people coming here the LEGAL way. They are sneaking into this country, that is not the legal way to become a citizen. I have no problem with immigrants coming to this country..my problem is the people that come here illegally and then expect us to bend over backwards to make THEIR life easier. I fully understand people wanting to come here to give their families a better life, but at least have the guts to do it the LEGAL way.

Good work at trying to sound smart. Most people here would not understand half of what you said. You can not begin to compare war crimes in Iraq and the holocaust to the mass illegal movement of Mexicans in this country. If my families came here legally, everyone else should too. What message does that send to people if you just give criminals a free pass. I don't care how poor they would be in their country if we sent them all back. It doesn't mean they should be given citizenship just because it would be easier.
