It becomes ithcy, and they can spread to other people. I don't think you'd get a disease, but they're very annoying. They're pretty hard to get rid of though, you house has to be fumigated and you can't go to school...

You need to get rid of lice. There are many shampoos and treatments available but they often use chemicals. Adding lavender oil and tea tree oil to you regular shampoo is a good deterrent for lice. You will also need to get a lice comb, a very fine metal comb, to remove dead lice. I bought a Robicomb witch runs on batteries and gives the lice a small electrical current that stuns them and they comb straight out. The current is not strong enough for us to even feel it but it zaps the lice good.
Ask at your local pharmacy and don't feel embarrassed, lice are surprisingly common, especially in schools and day care centres. It's got not as much to do with cleanliness as most people think, lice will transfer from a dirty head to a clean one.
Also it is a good idea to change all linen and treat that as well as hanging pillows out in the sun(if you can manage it the mattress too).

Lice are live tiny, tiny bugs in your hair. Usually adhere to your scalp and hair line. Around the ears, temple area. Primary symptom is itching, without treatment. One usually gets open wounds in scalp area, which can lead to impetigo. Please get some RID, or ask the pharmacist which over the counter medication they would recommend for you to shampoo your hair in. Don't be em brassed, I had lice for the first time in my life when I was 34 years old. Still don't know where I got them. Good Luck and thanks for the opportunity of addressing your question.

I'll just add something: Lice generally don't like constantly filthy hair. They go for the cleaner hair so that it's easier to move around. Ironically, if you never showered, you would have a lesser chance of attracting lice to your scalp.

Lice is a parasite that latches on to your hair follicles.
I don't know how long one can go without being treated for lice, simply because it's so itchy!
It is easily curable with a cream/shampoo. Just make sure you wash all clothing, change pillow covers and bed sheets.

If you don't get rid of lice your lice will suck the blood from your csalp and you can get very sick, it can be so severe that you might have to shave your head, so get rid of that lice.

Lice are parasites that can dig under your skin and live down there. They can suck your blood and make you very sick.
You need to buy a shampoo that gets rid of the little bugs, and do it as soon as possible.

You spread them to other people, you itch endlessly and you will eventually get really nasty sores and infections from scratching. You can lose big patches of hair from all the infection and scarring. Not to mention you will be a walking lice factory.

first...EEW!
Lice are tiny little spidery bugs that live in your hair and suck the blood out of your scalp. Eventually, from you scratching and their bites, your hair would fall out and your scalp would be covered with infected lesions.
second....EEW!!
