Shri Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, prosperity, love, and grace. She is the consort of Vishnu (feminine aspect of God and Vishnu the masculine aspect of God). Mahalakshmi is one the chief Mahadevis in the Shakta denomination (Durga and Kali are also some others). Lakshmi is the central focus of worship during the celebration of Diwali.
I am not aware of a story where Lakshmi dances for Vishnu...but there may be one out there. There are lots of Hindu mythological stories about the Devas, some I know and some I have not yet come across.
There is a story that says that Lakshmi was born out of the turning of the Ocean of Milk.
Here's a list of podcasts that are full of Vedic mythology. There is a great one on Shree Lakshmi!

She was the goddess of wealth and good fortune. She was Vishnu's consort or wife (depending on text) and embodied all that was beautiful and good. I don't know if she danced for Vishnu or not, but since she was all that was beautiful and that includes the arts: music, art, dance, literature, then it's not a hard leap to conclude that she must have done so.

Shri Lakshmi still is. Not just "was."
She is the wife of Vishnu. The above answerer is right.
