Has anyone taken provigil to improve energy, alertness, concentration or focus that is not tied to any disease or illness? Has it worked?

I have been taking this medication for less than a year and find that I am able to be more alert during work hours. I've found no real adverse side effects, though I cannot say I have gained any great energy from it. If your Doctor recommends it, I would give it a try...it is a very new and expensive drug. Good luck!

I've taken it before and it worked well for me. It made me a bit revved up but other than that it was good. I did, however, have slight headaches from it. It also raises your blood pressure (it's a known side effect) so if that's a problem for you then you might want to reconsider.

My husband took it; after a few days he was unbearable to be around. He was more alert, but he kept getting obsessions--repetitive thoughts running through his mind. Also he kept talking and wouldn't shut up--he never listened to a thing I said. (And for him, that's unusual.) After he quit taking it he felt a lot better and realized how weird he had been.
