We had a wine glass knocked over tonight at dinner. I thought that always happens at Christmas time the white table cloth is destroyed.
Is it the big weight on the high lttle stalk ? tell me.

It's like the peanut butter toast... when dropped, it will find its way, face down, to the most expensive and difficult-to-clean area in its path.

I think most of the reason for wine glasses spilling is that its user has misjudged his/her reach, intending to grasp the stem but bumping the bottom of the glass with a knuckle. I'd speculate this misjudgement could come from either inadequate lighting, or even a mild level of intoxication.

Hope this helps :) White tablecloth, eh? Couple choices there... purchase numerous white tablecloths and don't worry about it, or try for a different color/style of dining room :)

You're supposed to handle the glass only by the stem.
The wine temperature changes less that way.
Good luck with the white table cloth. Put it with the lost socks.

It's the alcohol consumption and the poor balance of the glass. Unfortunately, the wine glass helps keep the aroma in. Try brandy glasses next time.
