Hi Lilbandit

Here are the answers to help you. ALso, need to do a colon and liver cleanse because your body is in a unhealthy state. It's the body telling you, you have an internal issue.

Cause
Canker is a condition not only in the mouth, but all through the entire system. This is a toxic condition, and the sooner cleared the better.

Herbal Aids
1.Dr. Thomason's Canker Remedy: See formula using bayberry, white pond lily and pinus.

2.Canker sores: See formula using red raspberry leaves, shavegrass and agrimony.

3.Relaxed Sore Throat, Canker in Mouth or Throat, Spongy Gums, etc.: See formula using raspberry leaves and bayberry.

4.Sumach: Mouth affections (sores, canker), spongy gums: Use the infusion of berries as a mouth rinse.

5.Children: Keep the child on juices, distilled water and red raspberry-leaf tea for three days (the child will not starve), and you will see the general improvement of the condition. If the child wants more to eat, give him comfrey green drink, slippery elm bark tea, or marshmallow root tea. So there will be no recurrence, keep the child on a mucusless diet and keep the bowels clean and free moving.

6.White Pond Lily: Sore eyes and canker sores have benefited from being bathed frequently in a brew of the herb. Be sure to make it with distilled water for this purpose.

Best of health to you

Cheers

Cold sores are generally not dangerous and do not cause any permanent damage to the skin. Treatment does not cure the infection and is not necessary for most cases. Avoid picking the scab or breaking blisters as this can cause secondary infection and scarring.

Creams to treat the symptoms can be soothing, as can ice put on the blisters. Simple painkillers may occasionally be required. Povidone-iodine ointments (commonly known as Betadine) dabbed onto the cold sores may reduce symptoms in some people.

Ointments and creams containing antiviral medications such as acyclovir and penciclovir shorten the duration of the cold sore by reducing the ability of the virus to reproduce. These creams work best when applied to the skin at the earliest stages of cold sore development, when the area is tingling. However, not everyone experiences warning signs of an impending cold sore.

There is no cure for cold sores. Suggestions to reduce the number of outbreaks include:
Avoid known triggers, if possible.
Wear sunblock on the face and lips when outdoors.
Pay attention to general health and stress levels.
Avoid getting ill or run down.

ugh, I used to get them all the time and can really sympathize. All I can say is that I have tried it all and the best thing I've found is to use lip suncreen and get a perscription for Zovirax ointment. (if you've only tried the generic Acylovir than it is worth trying Zovirax specifically because I've tried both and Acylovir didn't do anything for me either) Zovirax also come as pills and a creme, but the ointment works better for me and helps with the pain if they come on fully. If I can catch the tingle feeling that comes prior to a cold sore appearing, even if the lip is already a bit swollen, the creme will actually stop the cold sore from appearing. Every time I've caught a cold sore early like this, the ointment stopped it! When the rare one does appear, it keeps them from spreading and they heal much, much faster. The only bad things is it is by prescription only, but then it helps that my insurance covers it.

Regarding the sunscreen. I've found Chapstick spf30 works really well. Hope this helps! =)

I get them all the time... buy a can of biscuts. Just cook one and save the others for later. As soon as it bakes, take it straight from the oven and open it up. Get a paper towel and take a little of the inside of the biscut out. It will burn you, that is why you need the paper towel. It will be really, really hot so be careful. Then just put a little bit of it straight on your cold sore. It will hurt like the devil and it will burn. Just dab it on and off of the cold sore until it cools down and then throw it away. This will make the cold sore scab over and it will heal quicker. This is an old Appalachian remedy. It has something to do with the yeast in the biscut and the "hot" takes away the "cold" sore. It really works for me. But be careful not to burn yourself!

I have used cold sore creme that I've purchased in health food stores, and it works great. I wish I could remember the exact two brands I've used. One of them contained L-lysine which helps a lot. (The other one also worked well.) Taking L-lysine orally will also help clear it a little faster.

Melissa essential oil is wonderful to clear up a cold sore. It's an antiviral, too. But it's quite expensive. It doesn't take much, at least.

However, the best thing is not to get them in the first place. Although the virus usually stays suppressed by the immune system in your nervous tissue, your diet's lysine/arginine balance is a prime reason for breakouts. (Also stress and sunlight are causes.) High consumption of grains in your diet (with the exception of corn) is the usual reason the cold sore virus proliferates. Grains contain high levels of arginine, which helps the cold sore virus to come out of inactivity. Nuts are another source, especially peanuts. Arginine is in many foods, but those are some high-level groups. So, either cut down on the consumption of these foods or take a 500 mg L-lysine capsule when you eat grains or a lot of nuts. You can take maybe up to 1500 milligrams of lysine throughout the day. L-lysine is used in a lot of the body's processes, and that much won't hurt you. People with shingles would benefit by doing the same thing. They'd never get an outbreak. ( I had one outbreak of shingles in my eye. Worst thing I ever experienced. Thank goodness, none since.)

Oregano oil is one of the few things that actually kills the virus. A somewhat painful "fix" is to put a VERY small amount of oregano essential oil on the cold sore to kill the virus. (Not even a drop. Just a tiny touch.) The virus will die and either there will be no further outbreaks on the spot or the following one will be much smaller. However, using oregano for this is rather extreme, since the oil is strong and itself can make holes in sensitive tissue like lips and mouth corners that are usually moist. It feels "hot" soon after it's applied. And the general area will stay reddened for a few days afterwards. You can counteract the burning by following up with some vegetable oil right after applying the oregano oil. Never use water in an attempt to remove the oil if it hurts. It will drive the oil deeper. DO NOT GET OREGANO OIL NEAR YOUR EYES!

I have not tried putting, say, a smudge of oregano oil pre-diluted with vegetable oil on the spot, but that is a possibility. I've just carefully applied it a tiny bit of it straight. A small amount of oregano/vegetable oil mixed half-and-half (or more dilute) could be made, but would need to be stored in glass with a tight-fitting non-plastic lid, since many types of plastic can be softened by essential oil. Molecules of the plastic could get into the oil. I don't want that going through my skin.)

However, watching the lysine/arginine balance in your diet is usually enough to keep the virus suppressed so you won't have to worry about future outbreaks. I do forget to take lysine for extended periods. Since I eat a lot of rice and other grains, cold sores very occasionally will start. When I get a "tingle", I start popping the L-lysine again. Usually, it goes no further. (For much of my life, I got one on my chin that was nickle-to-quarter-sized. It hasn't come back in many years. Twice in the last seven years, a single itchy bump started on the spot and my "extreme oregano remedy" took care of it.)
