You can try feeding her PLAIN boiled rice with a little PLAIN boiled chicken meat with the skin off and the bones removed. DO NOT give human medicine, even Pepto, without talking to your vet. Rice is mild and easy to digest, and it can help absorb excess water from her GI tract. If the diarrhea is very severe, you can give some Pedialyte to keep her electrolytes up until you get her into the vet in the morning. This is important-- make sure she's drinking well. Severe diarrhea can cause dehydration over time if left untreated. If her butt is inflamed, you can use a THIN film of Desitin ointment or Vaseline such as that for diaper rash... rub it in well to minimize licking.

Really there isn't much you can do at the moment and I know you are distressed for her. When the intestinal tract is out of whack like that the best thing really is to let her fast for the next 24 hours. She will empty herself out and then that system can rest for the next twelve hours till she sees the vet. She probably won't eat the pumpkin or the rice as cats don't like strange foods. Certainly don't force anything. She can and should have water if she will take that. The best food to break the fast is jarred junior meat for babies from the grocery store. Chicken or turkey are the most easily digestible. Be sure to check the label that the baby food contains NO onion or garlic.
Some suggestions from my remedy book are Slippery Elm and Bentonite clay. You can get these at a health foods store. Slippery Elm - 1capsule twice a day. Mix in warm water or chicken broth. Give at time of feeding. "Slippery elm is a nutritive herb that heals, soothes and nourishes the inflamed digestive tract." Bentonite clay - 1/2 teaspoon of powder mixed in food. "The clay has the unique property of pulling out toxins from the intestinal tract. Bentonite is also a rich source of trace minerals."

You need to ask this separately in the cat section for advice on cats. For dogs, as long as it hasn't been going on for more than a day, or as long as it isn't chronic in nature (reappearing weekly or so) -- try feeding bulky foods like rice in a 3:1 ratio to boiled ground beef or chicken. You need to avoid fats. Then add to this a bit of canned pumkin - not the pumpkin pie filling, just plain pumpkin. Every dog and cat I've had loves this stuff, and it's a miracle substance because it can be used for both diarrhea and constipation. Finally, depending on size of dog ,put in a teaspoon of plain yogurt every other day. This serves as a probiotic and can be done even when they don't have diarrhea. But as I said, this is for sporadic treatment. It doesn't replace a vet visit if the diarrhea is frequent, or other symptoms are present. The fact that you don't want to take them to a vet is understandable if they're not sick. If they're sick, it sounds a bit silly.

Hi there...consider using a teaspoon of canned pumpkin (the variety without any spices added). It adds fibre to the diet and helps minimize diarrhea.
Here's a web article about how it can help pet cats and dogs with diarrhea and constipation:
http://www.pets.ca/pettips/tips-75.htm
Please keep in mind the pumpkin may only help minimally as there could be a medical problem creating the loose stool symptoms. I hope your kitty will be treated soon by the vet and recover quickly.

Do NOT NOT NOT NOT give a cat people medicines unless told to do so by a vet ... many are toxic for cats.
See if she will eat some rice (chicken flavored), and try to keep her hydrated, She needs to drink water.
Get her to a vet first thing in the morning.

DO NOT GIVE ASPRIN...this can kill her! For now, don't feed her anything....but do make sure she get plenty of water, as she can easily become dehydated. One of the remedies vets often suggest is 24 hours with no food to clear up diarrhea. I would not give pepto mismol either...you used to be able to give it to cats but it has recently been reformulated and now may have added asprin..which can be deadly to cats.

My cat had the problem as a reaction to antibiotics. Nothing we could do to stop it. Take him to the vet as soon as you can, but I don't think you can safely stop it immediately.
My advice, put her in the bathroom for the night. Stay in there with her if you want (I know it can be really nerve racking when your cat is sick).

The best thing to give her tonite is some rice and ground beef. It stops diarrhea in dogs, cats and people... and it works fast. Do get her to the vet first thing in the morning and make sure she's drinking water tonite.
Good luck! I sure hope she feels better!

See if she will eat some cheese; if she won't then give her some pedialite water, the kind you buy for babies when they have diarrhea and you can give her a baby aspirin and pepto bismal, but I would suggest giving the pepto in a syringe like you do infants. Wrap her in a towel, leaving only her head out and have someone hold her tight while you give her the pepto; that should do the trick til you can get her to the vet and make sure she gets a child's dose.
