I know its your right not too, but it would certianly benefit you if you do.
Places of low income and high crime are usually places where there are low voter turnouts, BUT IF THERE WERE high voter turnouts the politicians will want to spend more money in that area on roads and education.

The main reason to vote this year is to get Republicans out of office and to try a new way of peace. Politicians need to understand that Americans are sick and tired of the lies, the thievery and the murdering wars in their name.

Time for a new start.

I understand your point, but I have voted in every single election since the moment I could, and no matter who wins or what proposition wins, nothing changes. When propositions are voted in, someone challenges the new law by filing a lawsuit. Republican...democrat...green... it doesn't matter. There's too much bureaucracy in the way for anyone to make a difference.

Apathetic and cynical? Yep. Will I vote in the upcoming election? Yep. Will things get better? We can only hope.

EVERYBODY VOTES, EVERYBODY VOTES, AND EVERYBODY VOTES, whether you turn up to mark a ballot or stay at home watching TV...YOU STILL VOTE.

When you stay home you vote because you are allowing the majority to go unopposed.

It's a fallacy that by not voting you express something. If there are 1000 voters in your district there will be 1000 votes counted, 400 for Mr. Jones and 600 who did not oppose Mr. Jones by staying home and not voting.

Don't let anyone tell you that your vote doesn't count because it does, and always will.

Yes I wish more people would vote and take the time to look over the issues and vote responsibly. To some that have answered before me. I don't understand why you would vote Dem. I guess you're all rich and the tax hikes Charlie Wrangle (head of ways and means committee) promises won't bother you. I still have yet to figure out when and where the "lies" come in I think you folks just listen to those who scream the loudest. Don't you care that they want their power back so bad they even put our military in more harms way by leaking secrets to the New York times so they can read how we try to stop them (the terrorists)? Do you really want us to loose the war on terror? Do you really think Bush is worse then the leaders of the terrorists? Think about it just don't follow the hate Bush crowd because you think it's cool.

Two words: Ignorance & Apathy. People either don't know enough about the cadidates/issues, or don't bother to put forth the effort to learn, so they can make an informed decision. Or they are just too lazy to go to the polls. Most of them would probably vote if they could do it on their TV's with the remote while sitting in their La-Z-Boy (pun intended), as long as they didn't have to miss Survivor or Big Brother, or Maury, or whatever.

I have always said if you don't vote don't complain. Not voting means you let someones opinion count more than yours. Learn as much as you can about the people running for elections. Don't just read the shouting that comes from both sides research the candidates and find out their personnel views. Try to make intelligent decisions. This is how we choose to run our country and we must do the best we can.

Endless amount of answers to your question and other than dieing on your way to the precinct, there is no acceptable answer. I think we rank like 128th on the world wide voter turnout poll--should be a good turnout this Nov--Vote Dem!!

I agree with you. Being a female, I know we had to fight back in the day to gain the right to vote, as too with the people in South Africa who fought long and hard and lined up in queues for miles in 1994 just to exercise the right to vote. So with these things in the back of my mind, I could never ever forfeit the right to vote when people before me had to fight so long and hard, that would be utterly disrespectful.

To vote is the only weapon that remains in the citizen to choose the leaders of the country. If it was not exercised by a person, the right was waived in favor of the those who voted.
