Ok so I need sum help... So I started karate in October last year and everything was fine and I was having a lot of fun until I fractured my ankle, my karate instructor told me I couldn't participate in lessons until earlier this year but it turns out the fracture was worse than we thought and I've only recently started taking lessons again. But I'm waaaay behind all of the other guys so I asked my instructed is there any way that I could prove to him that I was just as good and he said that he would move me up if I could show him a basic backflip... but the problem is i can't! Well not on the ground anyway I'm totally fine with it on trampoline but i am way too scared to try it on the ground. I know I might seem like a loser and sum ppl might tell me to get a life but I really need help.. Does anyone have some advice?? xoxo

your instructor want syou to do a backflip on a recent fractured ankle? change clubs, he is an idiot. No instructor worth his fees would say it, even as a test of your gullability.
there are things you can still do in a reduced way, and to totally eliminate you sucks. sure, no jumping or flying kicks, but there are arm techniques that always require improvement.

Back flips do not equal good fighters. back flip infront of people and by the time you reach the ground you will have a kick hitting your face.

I seriously reccomend you shop around for someone more willing to train you. real people get injured, and you shouldnt have to stop... find an instructor that can accomodate your reduced ability. its not forever, but keep training before you get dis-illusioned with it and give up altogether.

properly I truthfully have been tumbling on the grounds that i became 7 years previous. I found out my decrease back handspring first. i can do front walk overs yet i'm to scared to objective a front turn (till i'm on the trampoline) .. so I say that backflips are much less complicated on the grounds which you are able to land greater advantageous. If i attempted a front turn i could in all probability land on my butt.

Your first few times on the floor you may want a spotter to help with your legs or back.....my motto...as long as your arms are strong and straight...you will not hit the floor. The biggest fear of doing a flip is going backwards...once you get over that you will be fine. Your arms are your enemy if you hit the floor with your head.

in gymnastics? it's very super easy. i can do it on the beam. i can teach u. first you need to be in level three or higher to be able to do it by self but you know it's prteey easy. swing your arms back and jump up and back never just up or u could hurt your self. u have to keep your arms tight at all times, or you could get really hurt. then you kick your legs over your head. don't ever land on straight legs though bc that could end your gymnastics carrer. when you stick it then your done. hope it helped. i alway love best answers too lol

Just get hyped up and try one. You may go crooked but if you try one again right after repeatedly you'll go straight like i did, It took me 3 tries to get a perfect back flip

A helmet's a good idea. And practice, practice, practice. Try to get a foam mat, so that if your backflip fails, you'll have something soft to land on.

Just stand, and jumpbackwards while swinging your legs over your head. You may want to try a helmet - I did while dressed as Evil Kenevil last Halloween...

Keep trying, man.. that is your target, right
Don't give up!

Maybe strengthening your legs, losing some weight, and doing flexibility exercises can help... esp your back!

but above all, you have to keep practicing.. look at break-dancers to be inspired... you can also try break-dancing..hip hop..to get your body in the mood! :)
maybe without you realising it, one day you'll just flip..
hohohoho

Tell your sensei that you can't. That is what he wants to hear, and that is what you need to understand.Step back and learn what you missed.
