it seem like no Catholics had given me logical explainations. BTW, no feeling of disrespect or insulting, how do you think does the Pope overcome his sexual urge? by praying?

It is true that Jesus and certain apostles and prophets were single. However , Jesus called it a gift for whoever had room for it. In other words, being able to stay single makes it easier to preach and of course your free and not responsible for a family. The fact that some religions require it of their ministers is not at all biblical though. Some pagan beliefs were that humans should suffer their flesh by fasting, cutting themselves, living as hermits, and even wearing uncomfortable clothing. The apostle Paul , who recommended singleness in 1 Corinthians chap 7, nevertheless said at chapter 9 verse 5 " We have authority to lead about a sister as a wife, even as the rest of the apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas, do we not?'
An interesting sidenote is that Cephas is another name for Simon Peter who the Catholics claim as their first pope.

correction- Catholic Priest and Nuns
Part of the process for Priest to redirect all personal energies toward God. Being Celibate is just part of that.
Part of the process in the convent-the nuns are married to Jesus, they do a devotional ceremony and wear a wedding band.
The part of celibate life is the dedication to spirit and not to worldly items.

Paul explained it pretty thoroughly in Scripture. Those who devote their entire lives to the service of God can be more effective if they are not divided between the responsibilities of their ministry and the responsibilities of their own family. Priests and religious are not the only ones who must remain celibate you know. So must all unmarried people.

it is known not only from the Christianity but also from other realigns that the resistance of the earthly manners would give the human being spiritual strength, like Dervishes in Islam, and Sadhus in Hinduism, it is the same about the Christianity, but the problem is that it is a Job and louts of people are in the case of Christianity just after money and power, and don't really want to be spiritual for that pries.

It's not biblical.
The concept is that the bible describes the church as the "Bride of Christ." Supposedly, a priest who has dedicated his life to the service of Christ needs no other spouse.
Unfortunately, this assumption counteracts the first commandment of God, "Be fruitful and multiply." The desire to procreate is built into us. When we try to control our nature, and therefore counteract God's will, we're setting up for a catastrophe.
To be fair, the bible says that SOME men are appointed to be celebate, but that this is a mystery. It does not say that you must be celebate to serve God.

they do it because they are not supposed to love anyone or anything more than god--even if they can keep their distance with a lover, they could never love anyone or anything more than their own child, therefore they remain celibate so that they have no chance of having a baby and jeapordizing their relationship with god--I know this and I'm a pagan

supposedly their sexual urge is re-channeled into their verve to love and serve God . as saint Paul said is better to remain single in service to the Lord unless one is so weak as to need marriage. I for one don't buy into it ...

they are called to it. God gives them the grace for it.
christ did it (while fully man).....so do you think He would ask people to leave everything and follow Him, without giving them the grace for it????
this is somthing our protestant friends don't seem to understand
if you want scripture to back it up "some have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of God"
