The Holy Spirit’s Presence
Acts 2:1-4
During the time of Moses, God established a festival to celebrate the grain harvest. The first day of the feast became known as the Day of Pentecost (Leviticus 23:15-21). After Jesus ascended to heaven, God revealed a new spiritual meaning for Pentecost. On that day the promised Holy Spirit arrived, and the church of Jesus Christ was born!
While the disciples and others had been Jesus’ followers before this, there had been no “body of Christ” to which they could belong. On Pentecost all that changed. God’s Spirit baptized believers into the Lord Jesus, making them one with Him (1 Corinthians 12:13-14). Now they had a brand-new relationship with the Lord: from that point on, the Holy Spirit lived Christ’s life through them, and they abided in Jesus through His Spirit.
What a difference the Spirit’s indwelling presence made in their lives. No longer were they fearful men who ran away; nor were they people looking out for their own interests. Now they were transformed into a cohesive group who “were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common” (Acts 2:42, 44).
Our own personal “day of Pentecost” occurs at salvation, when we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit and baptized into the worldwide body of Christ. The Spirit’s presence is permanently given to everyone who believes, for He is the guarantee of our salvation.

.The Trinity followed by Christianity
All over the Holy Bible it is found the Word of God, the Holy spirit of God and God Himself.
For God nothing is happened accidental like Columbus discovered America.
All things happened and happens as pre determined by God.
As per the predetermination and prophesied through his Prophets, when the fullness of time came God ( Word or in other words Spirit & Life) came in to this world though Virgin Mary as Jesus Christ.
Here the Word (Spirit and Life) accepted the name SON. And the Spirit of God came up on the Son at his Baptism.
Son taught to Worship and pray to Father, from where this Word came from.
This Spirit he sent back to the place it came from during his death.
Then Son the Word ressuructed and and before ascending to Heaven ordered to Preach and Baptise in the Name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit (Spirit of God is Holy).
This is the Trinity, and not three Gods, as the Anti Christian religions and its author accuses.
Father, Son, Holy Spirit, is God. This what Jesus Christ said the Son is in the Father, Son and Father are one. Those who have seen the Son has seen the Father etc...
Jesus Christ said the world cannot see or receive the Spirit of trurh for the world deny the Father and Son.

The Trinity is three in one and one in three. It means that God is God the Father. Jesus is God the Son, and the Holy Spirit is God the spirit. In other words they are all three the same. In order to save humanity, God had to come down to earth in the form of man so he could be crucified for all humans' sins in order to give them a ticket into heaven--if they believe. Then after he ascended into heaven, he left the Holy Spirit (God) to stay on earth to guide the heart, soul and mind to do His will. The Holy Spirit is the Aura of God that will last until Jesus comes again.

Theologians have tried to explain this for centuries, over thousands of pages. Putting it concisely, the Holy Spirit is the "soul" if you will, of God. As a matter of fact, until the 20th century, the Holy Spirit was referred to as the Holy Ghost, making this association clearer.
The Trinity can be explained as a human might be explained (Genesis even states that we are made in His image) - God the Father might be called the mind, Jesus the body and the Holy Spirit the soul.
This is not necessarily the universally accepted description, but the best I can offer from my studies.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. It's really hard for us to wrap our minds around precisely because God's nature is not our nature. But the Bible clearly teaches that God exists as one God in three persons. The links below on the Trinity should be helpful for you. Feel free to e-mail me at chad@jesusfreak.com if I can answer any other questions. Take care.

The trinity is God in three persons-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Father is NOT: The Son, the Holy Spirit
The Father IS: God the Father
The Son is NOT: The Father, the Holy Spirit
The Son IS: God the Son
The Holy Spirit is NOT: The Father, the Son
The Holy Spirit IS: God the Holy Spirit
It is immpossible to fully describe or understand, but it is kind of like a multiplication problem: 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. They are three, yet one.
As for who the Holy Spirit is, He is the One whom Jesus talked of sending to comfort and help us.
John 14:26
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 15:26
"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.
I hope this helps, God bless

It may interest you to know that the word "trinity" appears nowhere in the Bible.
The "holy spirit" as depicted in the Bible seems to be "God's active force"- it's an extension of God's power that appeared on Jesus' shoulder in the form of a dove, is mentioned in the Old Testament, visits the Apostles and appears over their heads as a flame, and many other things. It is written that it gave them the power to perform miracles.
It doesn't speak. It doesn't take a human form, but as the Bible explains it, it seems to be a personality independent of God the Father and God the Son. Church Fathers of the Middle Ages described all three as one god; "the Trinity", even though God gave instructions to not try and figure Him out.

How I was taught:
In the Old Testament, God the Father came down to earth to speak with people, which he no longer does. Jesus came to earth after that, and when he left, he sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (this story is in the beginning of the book of Acts--it's fun, everyone thought the apostles were drunk and crazy), and the Holy Spirit is still with us today.
Not a Christian at all, actually, but I like this sort of stuff.

Maybe it'll help if you notice that you never see any two manifestations of God at once. When the Father is around, you don't see the Son or the Spirit. When the Son is around, you don't see Jesus or the Father. The Father generally manifested as the Shekinah Glory within the Temple. Jesus manifested as human flesh. The Holy Spirit manifests as the guiding Presence within each of His Children. All manifestations of the one and the same God.

azarrie,
"what exactly is trinity?"
It's the poetic attempt to describe the Triune God. It's totally Biblical, and believed by Christianity's foremost scholars. It is however inefficient, as agreed pretty widely, that it still falls short of the true nature of God. I believe in it, I just have to figure out what it is! lol
"there's God, there's jesus, but who's holy spirit?"
He is a part of God, like the Son is, and like the Father is.
Confusing? Welcome to the club.
