It is a myth. Even long thick hair only weighs ounces. IT IS A MYTH! Having hair in a pony tail or up in a bun or something can make your head hurt, but it is not because of the length or thickness or your hair,it is because your follicles are being pulled. There is no way any ones hair weighed forty pounds. Ha ha ha

No it is not a myth.
It's when all that hair is on top of the head or pulled up or pulled tight that headaches are caused......not just from having long hair.
I have long thick hair.
When I wear my hair up in certain ways.....eventually after like 10-12 hours I will start to get a headache!
And the second I take my hair down, I feel a tension release and my headache will start to go away.
So yes I can vogue for it's truth.

No its not a myth. I have seriously thick hair. When I was five my hair was past my butt and I was having serious migraine headaches. They tested me left and right and nothing came up as to why I would be having these headaches. Finally my mom wondered if it was b/c of my hair. (She is a hairdresser-with years of experience and she says-and my current stylist also confirms that my hair is equal to 5 heads of normal hair.-Anyway_ We cut my hair and the headaches went away. Then again in highschool I let my hair get that long again...once again I cut it and the headaches were gone. Yes Long Thick hair can cause headaches

Hmm I thought it was my life that was doing it. Maybe it's my long hair!
I know I have very thick hair and in the Summer my scalp is like an oven and I get sick from the heat, but headaches were and are a separate deal.

Hi! It is not a myth. I've worked in salons and talked to women who got their long hair cut and they had major headaches. In fact one girl had very long thick hair and had terrible headaches until she had it cut short---she also lost 40 pounds after it was chopped off. (of Hair) Not only that, but girls with very long hair looses hair quicker around her parts because of the weight. As a person gets older it falls out faster. Ciao!

Oh yes. Long hair especially if thick will cause headaches. I've talked to several women with very long hair and all say the same.

When you put in a ponytail, it damages your hair way more than just down cause when you have it up in a ponytail you might end up having an over tight pony-tail that will give you a headache along with damaging your roots!

Why? Because it is too heavy? I've heard wearing your hair pulled back in a tight ponytail or bun might cause headaches.
