my period always last for about a month and a half and then dosent come on for about three months. it always heavy until it actually stops. the doctor gave me birth control pills like 3 years ago when i was in 8th grade to regulate it but i didnt take them. now im in 11th and my mom says she is going to take me back to the doc, but she said its no need for me to ask for the pill because when i had the chance to take it i didnt but i think she just dosent want me to have it for the reason it may be promoting sex. but now i think i really need it for my cycle. dont i have a right to get it if its going to help me because i hate feeling like this all month. i mean of course i didnt take them in the 8th grade it was weird its a lot of things i didnt do then that i do now so im more mature. can i still get the pills without her or is there another way to help it

I think if you feel that birth control pills would help regulate your period than you should take them...because having a period for a month can't be very fun at all...and you don't want your cycles to be messed up forever. I don't think you need your mothers permission to take them unless she has to pay for the perscription. I'm sure something can be worked out...and I'm sure if the doctor reccomends them your mother will go along with it. Birth control doesn't promote sex...it's a way to be safe if you have sex...and it's also a way to regulate your cycles if they are irregular. I hope this answer helps you. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Seeing your doctor is a very good idea. He/she should be able to help. I'm sure many people know that bc pills are not 100% effective in stopping an unwanted pregnancy. I've met several women who have become pregnant because their doctor did not tell them a prescription medication would interfere, like antibiotics. Regarding bc pills and your mom, it may be that now you're older, she is afraid you will feel free to have sex with no consequences. Have a talk with your mom. You and your doctor can best decide what's best for you; it's your decision.

I think you need to go to the doctor and tell them what is going on and ask them if the pill will help you. I know many people that had to start going on the pill when they where younger to help regulate their period. You can always talk to your doctor and express you mother's worries and hopefully hearing the dr's advise will help ease her mind.

You need to find something that works to control this. It is not fun to have something like this going on. It affects your overall life. I had a similar situation as an adult and finally found the method that best worked for me not in pill form.
