If housing is available, you could live on base. There is a pecking order however, the more senior NCO's and officer's get first choice. I doubt that just any grunt with less than NCO status would be considered for on base housing.
You would get an off base housing allowance if you and your husband lived off base.

You will end up living on base housing. However, I would be hesitant for anyone to choose to get married to someone while they are in the military. The only marriages I saw last through the military are the ones that were well established before the military. You will not be able to see each other very much and the lower ranking he is the less room you will have. Also, he will be on call from Army and can end up anywhere in the world. There are some places he could be sent and you would not be able to follow. I knew one guy who didn't see his wife for a year, saw her for a couple of days and then was gone for another year. You both might want to consider these kinds of things before going down that route.

There are some real idiots answering this question -- here is the scoop on Family Housing:
The couple MUST be married, or it must be a Single Servicemember with Dependent Children -- and they have to sign up for the housing on post (if they so choose) based on rank -- and then that waiting list is used up by rank -- 1st come -- 1st served.
There is NO Double Pay for Married Servicemembers. The Pay is the Same whether the Servicemember is Married or Not.
However, a small increment for Dependents is added to the Housing Allowance when you CHOOSE to live off Post. Remember, if you live on Post Housing, then your Servicemember spouse will NOT receive ANY housing allowance at all -- since he WILL BE In Assigned Government Quarters.
All military Spouses and Dependents can use the facilities on post -- that means shopping, museums, library, fitness, etc.
When the Service member is Assigned to a Remote Assignment or an Assignment that does NOT allow in country Spouses or Dependent Children -- then YOU WILL Be separated from your spouse for the Duration of that Tour of Duty.
(By the way -- to the person who THINKS that officers have servants -- I can ASSURE you that is NOT TRUE at all -- NOBODY keeps the Quarters Clean or Maintained EXCEPT the Servicemember and their Dependents -- so that is just another idiotic misconception.)

My hubby is a E4 in the Army and we do live on base. The housing where I am sucks *** though. He has been deployed and when they are gone housing doesn't give two shits about anything until they are home. I would recommend living off base which you can also do, but there are certain places yoff base you can't live at. Go to the main housing office and they will be able to help you with both kinds of housing. Hope this helps!

There is housing available for families on military bases. Some base housing may be full or have waiting lists, then you will be living "off base"...renting your own apartment or home. His pay would reflect additional funds to assist in maintaining a household for the service members family in an off base situation. Of course, when the service member is deployed, the family remains at "home", but when his is transferred (or assigned) to another base, the military will help move your household goods. Hope this helps.

They have base housing that you can live with your husband on if he chooses to join the army. You can also live off base if you want together, and they give you housing allowance. In the Marines, right now we are getting about 800 dollars for off base housing allowance, becuase my hubby didn't want to live on base. You also get free health care, and discounts on a lot of stuff.

Yes, u can live on post with your husband. No, u cannot live on post with your boyfriend. Now, there is a waiting list for housing on most bases. While you live off post you will receive a housing allowance. When you finally, lol, get your on post housing, your BAH will go to pay the rent for that house and you will no longer receive the BAH. Good luck with marrying a service member, its a tough job, but well worth it in the long run.

Once he completes boot camp and you are married you can live together on base or off base regardless of his rank. All married soldiers are given a housing allowance. If the two of you choose to live off post (after marriage), your husband's housing allowance will be paid to him every month in his check and is based on his rank and where you live. If you choose to live on post your husband's housing allowance is automatically deducted from his check every month to cover housing costs. Housing on post (including utilities, yard maintenance and any type of repairs--appliances, etc) is provided to all married soldiers who request it, although there may be a short waiting list. Housing does usually improve with rank. It is nice to live on post as everything is taken care and you don't have to worry about those monthly bills and maintenance and repairs. This especially nice when your husband is deployed and eventually he will be. There are all sorts of things on post, such a movie theaters, pools, skating rinks, shopping, golf courses and even riding stables. You and any children that you have will be able to use these facilities whether you live on base or not. Believe it!

Some of the larger bases they provide on base housing similar to apartmens or condos. The higher your rank the better the housing. Admirals and generals get a really nice house along with a staff to clean house and prepare meals. For bachelors they have the BOQ, bachelor officers quarters. They are like little cities with fast food franchises, comissary (groceries), PX (like a dept store), theatres, bowling alleys, golf courses, gyms, athletic fields, tailors, dry cleaners, shoe repair shops, libraries, schools, gas stations, even bus service.

Yes if you guys get married then you can live on base with him. You will get a dependents id card so that you have all the benefits as your husband. They can provide you with housing but it could be a long wait depending on the base. But yes you will be able to live with him on base.
