1. insert winxp disc
2. restart ur pc
3. boot from disc (if did not boot automaticaly from from disc. restart again and press F10, F8, F2.(every pc have diff config to boot from cd) u try which one work with the 3 each time u restart)
4. install fresh copy of winxp
5. delete all partition
6. make partiton (if u like) ex: 60GB C:10000 D: 20000 E:24....
7. format each partition (quick format: NTFS for single OS, FAT
32 for multi OS)
8. install winxp on C:\
9. and wait

WINXP installer disc will guide you step by step
if you're not sure of the settings (internet connection, etc) just skip. u can set all those settings when ur already inside winxp

after ur fresh winxp. get ur YAHOO ANTI SPY AND POP UP BLOCKER install in ur pc

and also install antivirus for ur pc. i recommend this.

if you are going to totally format and reload windows xp you need a XP disc. If you have Recovory discs you can do that just fine. However formatting does not get rid of the infomation on the hard drive. It just modifies the file extentions and makes the space available. Like you think that when you delete something or erase somthing its gone , but it is just had its file modified.
You need to Wipe the hard drive. Norton utilities has a Clean Sweep feature that does that.
ok
Now if you are using recovery discs, reload from the disc and then use clean sweep to clean the drive.
If using and XP disc run the clean sweep first then reinstall the os.
and after you get it all fixed, use some good virus software.
Also most trogans and worms come from web sites so be careful where you go.
and is a good idea to great a partition on your drive that keeps you OS apart from your fils and downloads. If you are a MP3 downloader using limewire save these files to and isolated partition and scan for viruses. a seperate hard drive is even better.
Hope that helps and I did not confuse you.
