If that were true wouldn't we all be having a shot of lemon or lime juice after every meal?

I've honestly never heard of this theory, but I do know that drinking water with lemon during the meal helps keep your weight in line, or it does for me. It's all I drink when I go out, and when I stay home I drink a glass of red wine or iced tea with lemon.

Not after a meal. I've heard that lemon can help curb your appetite a little, so maybe having some before a meal would help.

No. Some people will claim that the citric acid will break down or burn fat, but there is no evidence supporting that. In fact, all you are really doing is adding extra calories to the end of the meal.
