well, my wife got on me for saying alter-boy when the person was female----so i guess the pc term would be alter-person.

A boy serving in the Catholic Church with the Priest is called an "Altar Boy" and a girl is called an "Altar Girl".

they are called the alter boy/alter girl. usually, they help the Father on the 'stage' at the front of the church during mass and walk before the Father on his way to the front of the church, and on the way back, they'll also hand him the goblet and bible, etc.
