If a soldier has 5 years active duty and owes 2 more years, can he leave active duty early if he signs up for national gaurd or reserve?

Yes I would think he could. My husband served 3 years active duty in the Navy and then he signed on to do 3 years reserve duty. He had originally signed on for 4 years of active duty but since he commited to 3 years of reserves they let him out a year early. He was soooo happy. :)

Hmmmmmmmmm no, lol. You have to finish your contract. And trust me, you don't really wanna join the national guard, unfortunately they do not receive the training that they need to do exactly what you are doing in the Army. Just finish your time, realize that no matter when you get out, you can always be recalled.

Asuming you are enlisted, you must fulfill you active duty enlistment contract. I asume you re-enlisted a year ago for 3 years (?)

no. if you were Guard/Reserve you could go Regular Army, it doesn't work the other way around unless there's some insane circumstances...
