it is the relationship water we are raised to swim in - rather obliviously and unquestioningly ...is it not is an old model we inherited from earlier generations for the survival of family and housholds and tribes?

Will it continue as the model for us? Is it still relevant?

Good question. The answer is complicated and depends on a lot of different factors. I think monogamy is inherently flawed so I would hope in a 100 more years people would figure that out.

Monogamy is flawed because when you really think about it mankind is just not naturally built to have only one mate for the rest of their lives. Monogamy is especially difficult for the male gender. Monogamy is wishful thinking, it is not very practical at all, at least for most human beings.

But any number of things could make people want to continue to believe in monogamy.

it is still relevant and it will still be around in 100 years

other methods have been tried and are being used today but with 2 sexes and births not biased to one sex or the other monogamy will continue because society is the will of the majority of people at least in an educated society and it allows everyone to have a partner at least potentially

I think it's going to remain relevant, because now when you stick your key into the unknown slots, it could break off, and then where would you be? halfway home, neither in and out. that stinks, ya know?
