As anyone out there looked in the mirror and thought to themselves I am pretty and I look good, but then later on looked at a photo of themselves and you look bad. They say a picture doesn't lie or something like that.

People have told me I'm pretty of course that was in the past it hasn't been that way lately, and I actually had an uncle blurt out once that I was ugly and my aunt stopped him from teasing. Who knows that may have scard me for life.

Pictures do lie. I've seen tons of pics where the person doesn't even look that way in person.

I am not photogenic but those who are always have a great pic. They may look different in person though.

It's all about the lighting. Even the most gorgeous supermodel can look unattractive with poor lighting.
When having your picture taken, stand up as straight as possible. Keep your chin level
with the ground and look just to the left or right of the camera.

We are not the best judges of how we look in photos. It's like hearing your own voice on tape...

But if you must apply a term to someone, I would prefer not to call them "unphotogenic" or "ugly." Let's say "aesthetically compromised."

There are some people, usually woman, of whom you can just never get a good photo.

I think it has to do with the way they pose when they are about to be shot.

The stress makes their faces take on a kind of grimace.

The only solution is to take the picture from a great distance using a telephoto lens -- or -- sneak up on 'em and shoot before they realize what is happening.

Ask a friend to take some candid shots of you, over a period of time, because I support what Jayleites said. We act differently when asked to pose, like! have you ever seen your friends driver's licences...

Big deal, some people don't photograph well. Conversely there are people out there who are photogenic but average in the flesh

I say probably just a bad shot. Blame the photographer, everyone is beautiful until someone else tells them they are not and they believe them.

I have felt that way many times. I hate getting my picture taken for just that reason. I think some people just don't look good in pictures. and I feel that I am one of them, so maybe you are too. Welcome to the club.
