I cant seem to concentrate on anything. I always get distracted with anything I am doing. It is know getting out of hand because I am in school and it takes me much longer that it should. I just seem to daydream alot and it is getting in the way if what I need to do.For example I might be reading one of my text books and I all of a sudden start thinking about something and might end staring at a page for about 30 min. and didn't realize it until I looked at my clock. I just can't seem to control my thoughts and zone out of stuff enven though I might be interested in something even when talking to friends . What is wrong with me and what can I do about it?

Sounds like me! I've always had problems focusing on things, getting things done, paying attention, etc etc. No one ever picked up on it because I always got straight A's in highschool (even though I couldn't do homework or study... I'm still baffled my parents never realized there was a problem). I had gone to the doctor nd been diagnosed with depression... even though I never actually thought of myself as despressed. In my second year of university one of my classmates complained that I wrote a paper the day it was do (she was mad 'cause I got a 98 and she spent weeks on it and got a 70...) to the teacher, and the prof sent me to the counbselling department where I was tested for ADHD...
Anyways, to make a long stoy short, the psychiatrist couldn't believe that I was never diagnosed earlier because I have hardcore ADHD. I take ritalin now (I'm 23) and I find that I can actually focus and get things done!

Talk to your doctor!

Your problem might be a similar one to what I have had.. and that is an inability to maintain focus on things.. such as books, tasks, etc.. I do think that stress has something to do with it.. but something you might try is while you are in bed- focusing on something - like a distant light or candle for several minutes.. It trains your mind to be more focused on things and could be an answer to you current situation.

Nothing. Concentration takes quiet and patienece. When the quiet is laking, theirs stress, or someone interupts, it's difficult to concentrate. I, too, always have that problem. Unless you're taking a test in a class room or something, ask to not be interupted.

Well, i am no doctor, but with your symptoms, sounds like adhd. Even if you aren't a kid you can have it. If you find this to be bothersome there are different medications that you can try. i hear they even have an adhd patch. Either rate, wouldn't hurt to bring up in converastion during your next visit to the dr.

Oh my gosh, the same thing happens to me! Also, sometimes I wonder what is wrong with me. I always space out, I can never concentrate, and I have a hard time completing my assignments/duties. (Sorry I did not answer your question!)

I have the same problem and they told me it was anxiety, but I went to the doctor this week and now they are telling me that it is attention deficit disorder. So who really knows. Hopefully they can figure it out for you so you don't deal with it until you are 42 like me.

It could be a number of things, as you get older you're faced with all sorts of new things and your mind might wander to those things. I would be checked for ADD though just to be on the safe side.
