a good time for breeding is from the fall to summer, but before you breed them you need a large nesting box for parakeets, and some soft material like the bedding they use for hamsters called pine bedding, and you would also need a lot of parakeet foodput a large bowl for them.a mother bird wont raise babies if there isnt that much food around.next you need a male and a female parakeet that ARE THE SAME AGE people always make this mistake, and make sure thay get along.

i had some parakeets still do but they never mated weird

Parakeets, like cockatiels, can breed all year round. You control their breeding season with light, feeding high protein foods and by offering a nest box. They're pretty easy to breed and often give you large clutches :-) .

To get them to breed, keep the lights in the room on for 12-14 hours a day. Often this, and a nest box is all they need. Nest boxes are pretty easy to find in most pet shops. I prefer a plastic nest box that has a side window that can slide out if I need to check eggs. Offer high protein foods such as tuna and chicken eggs that have been boiled and crushed up. Keep the shell on as the calcium is important for the hen.

The male will feed the female in the nest while the female sits on the eggs.

Owning parakeets is a hoot! Mine aren't hand tame but they amuse me a whole lot. My younger female knows how to mimic the cockatiel mating call, right down to the banging of her beak on perches. I've tried breeding her, but she's too closely bonded to my older female. The two of them will get broody (want to sit and lay eggs) together and it's funny seeing the two girls sharing the same nest box! I had one budgie who would spin around his perch time after time after time, then dangle from one toe from the top of his cage. I had another budgie who would sleep in the weirdest positions. If you can, try getting a hand fed budgie. They're supposed to be one of the coolest pet birds out there :-).

Good luck!

All budgies try this. it is totally cute. yet no, they are no longer breeding. they are basically being playful. seems such as you have a male and a woman so it is available that they are going to reproduce. yet I incredibly have a male and lady, fortunately they have in no way bread. =)
