ok, listen, because the router is a electronic device vers motor, there is no inrush current, it requires 1a @ 12 v to work, the pwr supply will put out enough amperage to run the device properly but the pwr sup. will run a little warm. this is not a recommended practise but it works. WATCH POLARITY, if the supply gets too hot , dont use it, get a higher output supply

Depends...if the device is always drawing 1A then no, it won't work. But if the device's maximum draw is 1A its possible the device might work under certain conditions. For example, if it was a transmitter, at a reduced power. Or any lights on the device could be dimmer.

Just make sure the center tip of the adapter is compatible with the device. Don't want to reverse polarity.

Most wireless routers consume between 4 and 8 watts of power. Your 12V / 630mA adapter will supply around 7.5 watts so it should work okay on almost any wireless router. This is assuming that it has the correct polarity and connector.

630 milliamps vs 1 amp will work for a short time

No - 1A = 1000mA - more than your power adaptor can supply.
