If the body is supposed to remain pure, and doing drugs or drinking aclohol takes away one's senses and prevents them from staying in a perfect state of mind, why would Jesus turn water into wine? Just to show off? Shouldn't he have turned wine into water? It would have been just as good of a trick

Because he was a guest at a Jewish wedding (as was his mother, Mary) and wine is to be served at such a happy event. He wouldn't want to do just the opposite and turn whatever wine they had around into water; that would be not only rude but downright nasty to the bride and groom. The bible does not forbid drinking wine or alcoholic beverages; wine is part of Jewish tradition and Jesus was Jewish.

It would have been a catastrophe for the bridal party to run out of wine. It would have been disgraceful for the bride and groom's entire family; they would have been embarrassed. Both Mary and Jesus knew this and wanted to avoid having the day ruined for everyone involved.

In Jewish (and really Italian) tradition, wine is treated as food. In the ancient world, wine too was much safer to drink than water.

The kind of wine they were going to drink was extraordinary wine. It was a wine that was only used for big occasions like weddings. Any Wine and strong drink if abused can have bad results. But it is possible that this wine was so pure that it didn't have the same effect as regular wine or if it was intoxicating wine, like the wine we know than the way they drank, especially being Christians, we can assume that they were using self discipline. But I prefer to think it was a pure wine.
The turning of water into wine was a miracle. It took 7 years to perfect this special wine. It only took an instant for Christ. It couldv'e been done to show any unbelievers that mightv'e been present His true nature as a witnessing tool and secondly as a gift to the two who got married and also His mother was inquiring about not having enough of this wine and was wondering how they were going to get it.
He will be drinking wine with us during our 7 year feast with Him as a covenant promise He made at His last meal before His death.
And one last note: Jesus's blood IS NOT REALLY in the wine at the "Holy Communion!!!!!" Read the bible whoever made that comment. It clearly says that it is to keep reminding ourselves of the gift on the cross and to remind us of the Promise of the covenant He made with us. It is not literally blood. The word says that drinking blood is not to be done and also that God or Christ does not enter into anything made with human hands.

In that era it's unlikely the water nearby was potable--this is why historically lots of people drank lots of wines and that type stuff--better than the available water. That and it's a cultural thing. As I understand they were at a wedding. The drinking of wine was to reflect the future success of the marriage. The wine ran out. For the wine to run out was a huge social shame and meant that your marriage would not be fruitful. And so Jesus turned the water into wine so that the marriage festival could continue--in effect he blessed the marriage.

Someone who takes a taste of wine is not doing his body or mind any harm. ' unless they were an alcoholic, then they should keep away from it. I mean if you eat too much bread you'll make yourself sick! That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the bread.
Why did he change water into wine?
1. That's what was needed at the moment.
2. There is quite a symbolism in wine- referring to abundance and prosperity, etc.

Wine or any alcohol for that matter is good and it states that it is good in the bible many times.

Food is also stated as being good many times in the bible.

Food like alcohol can and is abused and excess is what is called bad.

Alcohol is talked about in the bible as a medicine for Timothy's often stomach infirmaties and women are told to drink a bit of alcohol to avoid becoming bitter (take that one how you will).

For those who have been told by man that wine is juice, I urge you to read the bible for yourself, for I have never seen anyone called a drunkard from drinking juice.

Wine is alcohol and to deny that is to deny the bible and God said not to deny his word. Changing the meaning of a word for your own comfort is still wrong in Gods eyes.

Noah did not get drunk and pass out on grape juice.

The fact that Jesus did miraculously turn water into very good wine, complete with a normal alchohol content, should tell you something about what Jesus actually believed and taught.

Perhaps you have been deceived.

the bible does not say that having a drink is wrong, drunkeness is wrong. And Jesus turned the water into wine to show His divine power. It was not a trick at all.

there is no biblical verse that announces that the wine replaced into alcoholic, notwithstanding this is traditionally staggering that it replaced into. also, there is no Christian regulation that announces ingesting is a sin. There are biblical verses that say drunkenness and debauchery are sins, yet no longer playing a tumbler of wine with dinner or a tumbler of champagne on new years or possibly a beer at a decrease back backyard barbecue. On yet another be conscious, i visit not in any respect comprehend why it is any such enormous project between Christians. can we please see the large photo!?! truly, you ought to ask why Jesus did this, no if there replaced into alcohol in touch or no longer. that doesn't count number. So, he made wine. He most likely drank it too. I'm sure he ate like a gavon on occasion and maybe even inhaled. He understood that those things were created for him. What was wrong for him to enjoy himself and still not sin? We sin when we drink to excess and do drugs and eat till we have to be lifted by a crane. Messiah didn't have that problem.

Its not a sin to drink. Its a sin to get drunk. The wine isnt like our wine where you can get drunk off 2 glasses. You could dirnk it like tea. and besides, it doesnt matter if he turned it into incredibly strong wine. Its only a sin to get drunk. And he did it because his mother asked him too.

but to the guy up there...yeah it is fermented..
