A chaplet is a string of beads upon which prayers are counted as they are offered.
It is most frequently used to designate a string of 55 beads, a third of the Rosary, upon which are recited 50 Aves (Hail Marys) and 5 Paters (Our Fathers or Lord's Prayers).
With love in Christ.

a chaplet is bassically a prayer, made of a series series of prayers. An Example being the divine mercy chaplet. Its kind of like a novena.
In the divine mercy chaplet we pray
"for the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
"Holy God, Holy mighty One, Holy immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world"
and a few other prayers. Some are repeated several times. The point of the chaplet is not the prayers though, its the meditation that accompanies it. The meditation is the real prayer. Its somewhat simmilar to the rosary.
Things like that. I love that prayer, and it only takes about 5-10 minutes to say. (unless you chant it) :)
But there are a LOT of other chaplets too.

They are prayer beads similar to the Rosary.
There are chaplets to St. Therese of the child Jesus, St. Michael, etc.
Hold on a sec.
Now lest some confuse this and think that we are worshipping anyone other than God; we do not.
We do often ask a saint who has died and is closer to God than we are to help us understand God's will about something they also went through, that we are going through since we are still in our earthly bodies and are seperated from God.
Here's an example.....
St. Peregrine was born in 1260 at Forlì, Italy to an affluent family. He lived a comfortable life as a youth, and politically opposed the papacy. After he experienced the forgiveness of St. Philip Benizi, he changed his life and joined the Servite order. He was ordained a priest, and later returned to his home to establish a Servite community. There he was widely known for his preaching, penances, and counsel in the confessional. He was cured of cancer, after he received a vision of Christ on the cross reaching out His hand to touch his impaired limb. He died in 1345 and was canonized in 1726. He is the patron of cancer patients.
Prayer to Saint Peregrine
O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder-Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.
For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
Amen.

Chaplet of Saint Michael
The history of this beautiful Chaplet goes back to Antonia d'Astonac, who was a faithful Servant of God. Appearing to Antonia in a vision, Saint Michael told her to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. He promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life.
In this version of the chaplet, we have combined Austrian and Czech crystal in nine colors. Separated by German crystal and flanked with Bali style spacers, the change in colors is intended to illustrate that we are calling to the nine choirs of angels. Pater Nostras are medium blue, the color which is said to represent Archangel Michael. We conclude our chaplet with clear crystal as we pray in honor of Saints Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and our own guardian angel. Completing the chaplet is a Saint Michael medallion in base medal . This limited edition chaplet measures 19”.
O God, come to my assistance.
O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory be to the Father, etc.
Say one Our Father and
three Hail Marys after each of the following
nine salutations in honor of the nine Choirs of Angels
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Cherubim may the Lord grant us the grace to leave the ways of sin and run in the paths of Christian perfection.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Thrones may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Dominions may the Lord give us grace to govern our senses and overcome any unruly passions.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Powers may the Lord protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Virtues may the Lord preserve us from evil and falling into temptation.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Principalities may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Archangels may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works in order that we may attain the glory of Heaven.
Amen.
By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Angels may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted in the life to come to Heaven.
Amen.
Say one Our Father in honor of each of the following leading Angels: St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael and our Guardian Angel.
Concluding prayers:
O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.
Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises.
Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
