Stretch marks are essentially scars. For those of you reading this for an answer, cocoa butter and other skin treatments are to help the skin flex and prevent the scarring. They will not help the damage once it is done. So if your planning on getting pregnant or participating in the wing eating contest invest in a jar.

Stretchmarks Removal
As we pass through different stages of our lives, be it puberty, pregnancy or even on a holiday when we eat a little too much, and gain weight, we inadvertently develop stretch marks on some part of our body. Even body builders can have stretch marks, in cases when the growth of the muscle is very rapid. At first these marks are reddish purple in their appearance, but lighten to shades, which are almost of the skin color, which helps in their easy removal. So don’t be panicky if you spot your first stretch mark, they’ll fade with time.

Stretch marks generally appear after child birth or after losing weight, when the skin returns to its normal size and is thus less apparent. It still has a loose feel and the marks may also be a little lower than the surrounding skin, which imparts a rough feel. The stretch marks are made on the dermis of the skin, which is one of the 3 layers of the skin, and when it is kept stretched consistently for a long period of time, it loses its elasticity and the small collagen fibers constituting it break, leading to formation of stretch marks. Stretch marks besides the cosmetic aspect are totally harmless. They do not limit normal body functions.

Removal of stretch marks is the most effective when they are just formed, i.e. when they are reddish in color. Dermatologists recommend various treatments for the marks, but their removal is very difficult once the marks fade. Although, one can use Olive oils, Coconut butter or Vitamin E or Vitamin A for massaging over the marks. Aloe Vera Gel soothes irritating skin which has been recently stretched. For an effective prevention of stretch marks, exercising is the best bet, as it keeps the muscles and skin firm. Also eating foods, which are rich in proteins, Vitamin C and E help in promoting and maintaining healthy skin.

.This is not a lie, or a joke people. My sister and law had huge stretch marks. They are barely seen and some are GONE, she was very thankful for my advice. Use preparation H cream everyday . you will watch them shrink smaller as the months go by and one day they WILL be gone, she has 3 kids and when i told her about this, her kids were ages7 and up at the time, So it doesn't matter how long you had stretch marks, you can get rid of them in time. my sister and law has proved that my advise worked. try it sweetie. good luck

I am glad you ask because many are still in the dark on their options for strech marks.

Cocoa butter and primrose evening oil work, but may not have any effect for those "deeper" stretch marks. Here's what I recommend:

StriVectin was accidentally discovered by scientists and doctors who wanted an anti-wrinkle formula. It's logo is "Better than Botox".

Do your research by "Googling" for it. StriVectin has been around for 2 years at least!

It's a patented cream and this means whatever goes into the manufacture of the cream (or gel) has been proven to work, proven by many clinical trials on humans. (ALWAYS buy from a online shop that's registered with the BBB.org or with a Consumer Protection Authority in your country.)

P.S. I DO NOT earn any money from recommending you StriVectin nor am I an Amazon affiliate.

More about StriVectin:

Intensive Repair For Existing Stretch Marks (Striae Distensae)
Ultra Concentrated Stretch Mark Repair Formula

Clinically Proven to Dramatically Reduce the Length, Depth, and Texture of Existing Stretch Marks
Corrects Discoloration
Stimulates Collagen Synthesis
Significant, Measurable Results in 93% of Subjects Tested

Clinical Studies Don't Lie
A groundbreaking series of studies has demonstrated, without a doubt, the amazing effectiveness of the active StriVectin-SD isolates. After reviewing and verifying the clinical data, the researchers noted an incredible 93% of subjects demonstrated a measurable reduction in visible stretch marks. The unequivocal, verified results speak for themselves. But there's more.....

Clinical observations further document the ability of StriVectin-SD's active, independent isolates to dramatically:

Decrease the actual length of striae (stretch marks)
Decrease the depth of indented surfaces
Increase smooth surfaces
Increase skin thickness
Increase skin firmness
Increase stimulation of collagen synthesis
Correct irregularities in skin discoloration

And that's not all. StriVectin-SD includes a proprietary combination of skin firming agents, elasticizers, and skin hydrators...adding up to the most effective, the most powerful...in fact, the only topical formulation clinically proven to effectively confront every aspect of stretch-mark repair.

So What's The Catch?
There are three. First, although 93% of the subjects tested experienced measurable reduction in stretch mark depth, length, feel, color, and texture, no topical formulation can completely eliminate stretch-mark damage. Second, at $135.00 for a 4-6 week supply, StriVectin-SD is much less expensive than surgery, but it's not cheap. Finally, for maximum efficacy, StriVectin-SD must be applied three times a day, every day, for 4-6 weeks...StriVectin-SD works, but you have to use it. So unless you're committed to getting rid of stretch marks, don't waste your time, your energy, or your money.

If you are done having kids and they are mostly on your tummy and you have a bit of a tummy you could get a tummy tuck. It will literally cut many of them off and stretch the rest of the skin so the indention from them may not show as much.
Get a consult with at least 3 plastic surgeons. They almost always do a free consult. Plastic Surgeons not Cosmetic Surgeons. They are board certified.

You can't darling SORRY!! They are there for good. they will fade with time. eg. Going out in the sun and getting a tan. But then you run the risk of skin cancer. By the way the creams DON'T work! But they do help the skin.
