and which is worse--curling iron or straightening iron?

They are both not as good as natural drying. The negative ion, ceramic irons are better than the metal irons and the CHI iron is by far the best for the hair so far. I would strongly advise not using an iron everyday. You really don't have to either. You can touch up inbetween. If you are doing something that causes you to sweat everyday then use a professional shampoo and conditioner for everyday use. Deep condition once a month. Get regular cuts 4-6 weeks. Your hair should stay pretty healthy if you do all those things.

Everyone I've ever heard says its bad including the hair dressers. I use the flat iron daily. My hair doesn't get dry though because it produces oil every day that I can't go a day without washing it. So I think it all depends on your hair and the products! My hair dresser is amazed at how my hair doesn't look damaged. I use Paul Mitchell's skinny serum. Absolutely love it!

Depending on the integrity of your hair, it's not necessarily bad. However, no matter what form the heat styling comes in, it has the same effect. Something to consider is that curly or wavy hair is naturally a drier and more porous texture - meaning it is more likely to dry out, become brittle, and loose sheen and color. I would definately recommend a heat styling product to protect your hair and a protein/moisture treatment once a week.

Both are damaging to your hair because of the heat. I would definatly suggest using some heat protective hair products if you do use these often. also, if you dont REALLY need to use a flat iron then DONT because once you start using it, it will damage your hair alot. mine is damaged because i have used a flat iron for a few years and i cannot wear it natural because it was fried. watch out. protect your hair!

i would imagine the straightener cause your using it on all of your hair. but then again i would have to say both are bad for your hair. you shouldnt use it everyday. but if you do buy a heat protectant spray. this will protect it from the heat, and the damage it causes. i use my straightener about 5 times a week, and before i started using this spray my hair was badly damaged...it will really help your hair :)

One way or another, it will damage your hair. But it all depends on how you take care of your hair, as well. I use heat protection spray especially on the ends and I use thermal shampoo once or twice a week, and I don't wash my hair with hot/lukewarm water. I straighten my hair often, but it's not dead or brittle.

Both uses dry heat and if your hair is brittle or baby-fine, the chances of getting split-ends is higher. Why not go for re-bonding or a body/spa/root perm? Big bouncy curls are back in fashion here in Singapore. Don't know if it is where you are.

Don't forget to use leave-in mosturisers regularly, and weekly hair masks to keep your permed hair in tip-top condition!

Neither are worse, both are extremely damaging to your hair. The heat from both things can cause hair breakage, split ends, etc. Yes, it is bad to straighten your hair EVERYDAY. So stop it.

It can be.Every day !

Curling Iron is o.k. each day...but hair needs to rest one day...give a treatment.

Straightening iron not really good for hair....so use it as less as possible.See if the hairdresser has a solution to use, to help out...
