It sounds like you need a Clarifying shampoo. Over time, the products we use on our hair coat the strands with residual wax. A clarifying shampoo is meant to be used once in every 10-15 shampoos; it strips away the build up. Moreover, it may be that the products you are currently using are not a good match for your hair type.

Condition your hair first to detangle and soften it then lightly shampoo it unless your hairs really gross (sweaty dirty) one day then Shampoo and conditioner.. If you have thin hair you may just want to try shampooing alone or using a child's shampoo, like John sons and Johnson's Baby Shampoo, or Suave Kids.

Try getting a restoring vitamin E shampoo or conditioner. I starighten my hair almost everyday and if i dont use vitamin E conditioner my hair is so gross and i hate it so try that. and how much cond. u use depends on the hair! :)

switch shampoos and make sure it's out completely when u rinse. straightening would dry the hair, not oil it.

sometimes of you spray some hairspray loosely in your hair, the acid sucks up some of the oil. i do that & it works,
