No that is false. I donated for years and it never effected me. I recently started back and I haven't felt any change.
YOu could feel weak right after giving blood but it will not harm you and is beneficial in that you get a your blood pressure checked free.

No, it is not true that you gain weight when you donate blood. The only thing I can think of besides what has been said already is that after you give blood they usually give you something to drink and something sweet to get your blood sugar back up.

I have donated several times and the only reason why I have gained weight is the foods I eat! :)
