i'll join a conversation at school and i'll be good at first. then it'll just evolve into intricate details and i get so lost.

like i'll join a conversation about sports. i probably caught about 10-15 minutes of the game. i'm good with that part. then people start talking about stats from last year, and what the quarterback's favorite food is. and i'm like ???????

You no doubt feel as though you don't fit in, or that you don't belong. Try finding others with similar interests as yours, this would make conversations easier for you. Or, you could learn to watch sports that you obviously don't seem to care for. I never cared for talking sports either, still don't on certain ones. But, just because someone(s) talk sports a lot, doesn't mean they aren't interested in other things. Speak up sometime, you'd be surprised to find out who also shares the same interests as you. Now, get busy, and get talking!

My advice: Many people wants to put in their ideas about a conversational topic, unfortunately we cannot be perfect all the time. So, the best is to listen well to talk well. Also, read a lot of sports headlines. That will get you going on with the topics.

try finding people that have the same interest as you and then your conversations won't stop at the basic superficial things that get you into conversations with boring people that can't hold you attention.
