I have a full scholarship to any college, to study what ever I want, but immediatley afterward, I must become employed in that field, and am not sure what to do. I am currently in my second year as a elementary education/math major at a University. I am a mostly hands-on kinda guy working as a construction worker, but enjoy working with children also. On the other hand maybe there is something really cool out there that I don't know about. I am very confused at this point.

I failed to include some important details. I am a 29 year old disable veterain, nothing serious, but I don't think that the VA will allow me to be an electrician or a construction worker, I took a test to determine what I would be good at, and Teacher and Nurse were at the top among other things. I come from many generations of carpenters and love to do it myself, but often think that maybe something a little more relaxed would be nice also. My biggest concern is that this might be my last chance to chose a meaningful career, I have already given up on several, and am just tired of being unhappy or disappointed by the wrong path.

You've got a great deal here. You can change your major as often as you want. You have two years to find your niche. First you must find yourself. I'm confident that the field you become emplyed in, once you graduate, will not be a LIFE SENTENCE.
Relax, talk to students, counselors, professors or people in your choice of professions. Once you find your forte you'll know it.
Good luck, and remember if it's forced it's not your true calling.
Be patient and keep your eyes and ears open.

You stated that you enjoy working with children. That's great. Especially coming from a male That's very impressive. Personally, I would say find a career working with children.

Some career goals I would suggest would be an elementary teacher, pediatrician or a child psychologist.

By the way, congratulations on your full scholarship! Hope you'll find a college and field that you are very much interested in. Good luck!

I would choose to study early childhood education. I love kids and I'm very creative I think outside the box. Just a few weeks ago I was in a volunteer teacher workshop for my niece's pre-school. We were given some items and were told to make something. They were toilet paper rolls, celephan plastic and rubber bands. I ended up making a jump rope and phone combination. If your really hands on try becoming a gym, shop or home economics teacher. I know that last one is a bit feminine but you can still teach. Plenty of schools need coachs for sport so the education portion will help if you still want to teach. Good luck to you and follow your heart.

Ask yourself "what do i have fun doing?". If you like construction and feel comfortable with it then do that. If you think you would be a good influence and role model then become a teacher. If you want to try new things, you can try just going to places and asking if you can hang out for a day. Thats my advice, I hope you find your future. Stay Groovy.

Honestly I chose Radiography as my field of study not because I am passonate about giving ultrasounds and x-rays but because it's in growing demand and pays well. I'm not sure what I'm up against but I will hopefully learn to love it!

unsure... for myself it would be the arts most likely.

i don't know but this is a good question.

i'd like to teach others composition in music.... thus i need some study in that myself, brush off the rust a bit.

or sculpture, painting.. something arts.

then teach it... use it for concerts, teach others and get grants things like that.

i think that would be it.. i don't have the mind for anything else.

I would jump at that! Have you ever thought of being a votech teacher in a high school setting? We have a program here that teaches construction.

Congrats on your award.
